Not really actually. Looking at what they achived past 2013 when they split (so not counting takeovers of Torchwood and Koppies prides), Northern Matimbas manage to takeover only one pride (Skorro) while their southern brothers tookover briefly Styx and Kambula prides and for longer Tsalala and Othawa prides. On top of thed they were mating and could potentially sire some cubs in Mhangeni pride. Also Southern Matimbas stick to power for longer peroid of time and survived to much older age so they seem all around more succesfull to me.

Tbh Northern Matimbas seem even more unlucky. I would argue that competition Nothern Matimbas faced was more formidable than Birminghams were. Avoca/Giraffes had more numbers coampared to Birminghams and had almost at a peak age 2 massive males to lead them - old Avocas.

Who are the fathers of the mbiri males? And I don’t think hairy belly and ginger sired any cubs after the nkuhuma pride only gingerella made made it unfortunately not sure about the northern brothers

In theory any of the 5 could sire them. My personal guess is that Zig Zag was sired by Slit Nose. In regard in Shaka Mbiri it is difficult to even guessing since he has so uniqe look.

It is unfortunate that their cubs from Tslalala pride did not make it to adulthood through it doesn't mean Matimbas did there any worst with this pride, han their northern brothers did with Skorro pride. It was more of luck factor than argument for Northern Matimbas to be more succesfull.

I believe they should have a lot offspring from Torchwood pride and deffinitelly I wouldn't count out Othawa males. Also regardless if little Othawas were succesfull or not Matimbas were succesfull with Othawa pride ruling the pride for long peroid of time and raising their offspring to adulthood.

Shaka most likely by WhiteFace Matimba.

As far as i know, 2nd generation of Mbiri offspring should be sired by N.Matimbas.

Same goes with Torchwood pride and S.Matimbas, as offspring in Torchwood pride was born late 2013/early 2014.

Split happened thru 2013.

Personally if I would have to guess then I would bet that Shaka Matimba sired Shaka Mbiri. I can see arguments through for White Face Slite Nose and Ginger as well. For me only HB would be an odd guess to be a father for Shaka Mbiri.

Indeed split was happening throughout 2013. As far as I remember back then White Face and Slite Nose were mostly spending their time with Mbiri pride and preassuring Nkuchuma males to takeover Koppies pride while Shaka nad southern Maimbas were mostly spending their time in the south of their terriotry, but still there is a big difference between "moslty" spending time in direct arena and beeing there all the time and with that not having access to females from other arenas. Southern Matimbas in 2013 could very well travel north to mate with females there as well as Northern Matimbas could travel south for mating purpose. In fact according to Tintswalo blog 4 of the 5 Matimbas were present when they killed 1/2 Nkuchuma males locking takeover of northern Manyeleti with Kopppies pride.

Mayanbula Male: He really have the face of Zigzag especially the eyes that looks like a sleepy lion.

RE: Matimba Coalition Male Lineage - Mapokser - 12-02-2024

Most Mayambula males resembles Scar which is a bit interesting considering Shaka was dominating the mating rights at the time.

RE: Matimba Coalition Male Lineage - Ngonya - 12-23-2024

The 6 Mayambula/Vlak males
Sons of the Mbiri and Grandsons of the Matimba, the 6 brothers were born around 2019 at the Mayambula/Vlak pride and are 5/6 years of age. They are territorial over atleast some part of the Sweni pride, around Satara south of S126 road.

Along with @Mapokser, a individual ID for each of the 6 brothers was made.
Earlier this year (2024), its very likely that the coalition has been whittled down to 5 after the disappearence of the sixth brother.
However, since 2023 the sixth male, even thought presumed gone just earlier this year, barely has any pictures in a very long time.
On the montage, one of the few pictures that its possible to identify him, posted in early 2023. Nothing really characteristic about him so its hard to tell this young male apart.
If not gone already, the sixth male is in the remotest of areas and so far it seems pretty much certain the remaining brothers are a coalition of 5 male lions, all together and strong.

#1 - Having the most developed mane during their early days, this male looks to be the oldest of the brothers. Nothing very characteristic except for the fact he has the cleanest face and is pretty much the best looking brother. (apparently not branded)
#2 - A very dark mane, looking as the second male in order of development. He has a X brand on his left shoulder.
#3 - Popularly nicknamed as Snip Tail, he has the tip/fur of his tail missing and a X brand on his left hindleg. He is also very well-developed but doesn't have a very dark mane like the previous two, even thought it seems as if he is one of if not the most dominant of the brothers, very often seen in the company of females.
#4 - Out of the five remaining brothers, this is the least pictured male. Also nothing very characteristic but is a blonde maned impressive male. (apparently not branded)
#5 - Has a very characteristic blonde mohawk mane along with a unique face and a X brand on his right shoulder, perhaps the easiest male to identify.
#6 - Barely any pictures but looked quite similar to the fourth male. (Likely gone)

Only thing I was told about the 6th brother was that he doesn’t look like the other he looks like a subadult but it’s been awhile since then… incredible job with these IDs
