I can't understand why jaguars in Central America are the smallest. I think that is false. Mesoamerican jaguars are probably similar size to jaguars in Amazon.

Laguna de Terminos, Campeche, Mexico

The jaguars from this area are massive, this is a seasonally flooded area with healthy populations of native deer and peccary, as well as crocodiles. This area also hosts a population of feral hogs, all of this prey combined allows these jaguars to grow really big, I wonder how they'd compare to South American ones in terms of weight.

''One of the main problems faced by big cats in the Yucatan Peninsula is the conflict with cattle ranchers. As their habitat is reduced and the populations of their potential prey diminish, they are forced to approach human settlements to feed on livestock and other animals, which most of the time results in their death.
