I wonder from what source this article has been found? This reminds me about one article about claimed fight between gorilla and lion, which was clearly a fairy tale. This has same features, plot is so similar. Two animals fight in way, which just doesn´t sound at all natural and, surprise surprise, both die in the end :) I wonder if there has been same story teller behind both of these two articles. Some old articles are written so, that similarities to real events can be seen, some then are like taken from Tarzan books. Animals described acting in quite odd ways. I find this article very unlikely to be accurate description about encounter between leopard and python.
It is that overall style, then for instance snake beating ground when leopard does something. Like "special effects" in story telling making it look like more dramatic for readers. Where did you find that, I would be interested to look if something more could be found. So many old stories have been in reality fairy tales, but always interesting to see when something comes up.

Well, that´s not dangerous. When looking for information, sometimes you find better, sometimes worse. I just have learned to be pretty cynical when seeing certain kind of stories. Some can be true, but many times not. For instance bear decapitating moose with swipe of paw, wolverine killing polar bear and some other old stories... when looking closer, for me personally impossible to believe. But for sure in "good old days" those have been good stories to create mythical reputation for many animals :)

There is a big specy of python in Africa: The African rock python, 3m50 to 6 meters long, able to reach 7m50 (extreme case), 35 to 60 kilos, record at 91. From deserts to forests they live in savannahs too, in fact near the sources of water. This one tries to swallow an hyena !

The Python here already managed to put one coil on the Deer even before it fell back to the ground. I'm always impressed at just how fluent and fast a Python's Strike and Coil attack really is. It sounds like rather 2 clumsy motions (Strike and Coil) but in reality, it's just one big, efficient, and fluid motion. It's just so fast that the prey has little chances for retaliation before it's already in several coils.

Residents of the Philippine island of Mindanao were shocked when they found a giant king-cobra in a rice field. The people panicked and killed the snake, but were left puzzled when they found another serpent inside the cobra.
The 3.6-metre (12-feet) cobra had apparently swallowed a reticulated python of about three metres (nine feet) in length, with only the victim's tail poking out of its mouth.
