Lol, true about the title. but, Lions don't mind jackals around. that's not friendship though. where as Hyenas are not respected well by lions. They just feel aggressive towards them coz they laugh which is disgusting (lol, just kidding). Sometimes, these little buddies (jackals) even harass and disturb sleeping lions by going to them and biting their tails. Even, sometimes share carcass with jackals in which these fellas get small scraps while a 2-3 lions eat. Still, lions don't mind them coz they look cute? (kidding)

I think when a male is by himself, he is obviously going to be less inclined to fight hard unless the intruder gives him no other choice. If he is part of a coalition, he is probably more likely to try and bully since he has others to rely on.
There is no evidence to back this, just an opinion. But examples can be used to contridict this for both lions and tigers, so like usual it probably comes down to one thing....
The individual personality of that particular cat.
I remember that documentary quite well, location was Ngorongoro crater and dark maned lion was called Moran, a single lion reigning a pride.
In fact, statement given in the documentary is exactly the same - single lion would avoid any sort of physical confrontation.
I have been looking for information about that lion (Moran) because he didn't had any coalition partner and still had a pretty long reign.

As usual, biggest claimed weights come from sources, which can´t be considered so reliable, that weights could be confirmed. As far as I remember, heaviest hunted lion, which is quite commonly approved was 272 kg. Then heavies good looking lion in captivity, which I can remember was Aslan in Norwegian zoo, weighing 255 kg, @Pantherinae worked in that zoo and told that weight. It is also said by staff of that zoo in one video, that it weights 250 kg, so I consider that reliable for me at least.
Then when I look at Aslan and imagine there 50 kg more. Would it be very fat... I don´t think so. It might not be anymore the most ripped lion, but for sure it would be still quite fit lion. Based on that I don´t think that 300 kg lion in wild would be something impossible. Then again it is totally another thing to find one. We are, after all, now talking about exceptional individuals if that big lion would be found one day.
There are claims, that for instance Caesar, famous "Notch lion" would have been about 300 kg, it is said, that it would have been weighed and over 280 kg. But as usual, source is such, that verifying that weight is impossible. No information, who, when and where would have done that weighing. Even though those people are alive, they seem to be impossible to be in contact and get more information. It is 2019 and when someone gives claims like that, but then goes silent when more details is asked.... I find that simply ridiculous and unreliable personally.
So I personally wouldn´t be at all surprised if we one day would get confirmation about some 300 kg lion in wild. But then again to believe that I also want to see sources, who aren´t vanishing in silence immediately when more details is asked. Still old sources are often exaggerated. 800-1000 lbs lions would be possible only, when we are talking about "meatballs" in captivity.

1000 pound lions in wild is not impossible.Even a person could reach 1000 pound. But rarerly. And yes,old sources can be wrong. But 1000 pound lion in captivity is true.Simba black maned lion is not fat but extremely muscular. In wild 313 kg and 135 cm height at shoulder.350 kg lion shot in Eastern Tangayika Kruger. But maybe this is too much for a lion in wild. But not impossible.

1000 lbs is 454 kg. We are talking about lions now, not bears. There haven´t been even rumors about anything close to such weight. It is nice to like some animal, but if that leads to losing all rationality, then you are in situation where no-one can take seriously anything you say. So I strongly recommend, that you use some time and study these animals and remember source criticism. It is important to separate myths from facts.

I repeat, source criticism. Then also when you find something "too good to be true", use some time to search more information. In that way you can separate most of the myths from real cases. Internet is full of false information, to be able to notice crap you should also use time with printed books and read what experts say, when there is no-one using different softwares to twist things.
Internet is good way to find information fast, but then again so many people use it to spread misinformation. On purpose or by accident.
RE: Large male Lions (videos only) - Shadow - 06-14-2019
I actually asked a bit about Simba and Nick Nyoka. It is unclear, where it has been weighed, but it was said to be 826 lbs, which is about 375 kg. At time it was also in Guinness Book of Records as the largest lion in the world, shoulder height was 111 cm. So it is assumed, that maybe it has been weighed also by people of Guinness, but that is just assumption. I was told, that history of Simba is actually very sketchy.
Staff from zoo of Colchester, where Simba and Nyoka visited 1970 said, that Simba was clearly obese. I got also a link to rare, but quite good quality video footage, where it can be clearly seen. That belly swinging there sideways looks like to have some fat inside. Simba can be seen from 2:18 forward.
