Now since you mentioned I will say now. First of all I am glad there's another large male in the area and I remember how you said he was really massive. One more on our ''capture list wish''. Aju is indeed very large and when I was drawing the red lines to show you guys the differences I noted he got a big chest circumference and now you mention there was an even larger male dragging a caiman carcass... its crazy haha. @Balam there are much more males from that area to join that big list. RE: Jaguar Directory - Pckts - 08-24-2020 He dwarfed Hunter and it's safe to assume she's in that 90kg range so Aju must be 130kg +. Now that I know it was Aju I wonder just how large Balam or Edno would be in comparison. This male's name reminded me of M02 male of 130kg capture by Panthera that Fernando Tortato told me. I wonder if M02 is this one bellow, note he got a collar. *This image is copyright of its original author By the way in case you guys were wondering the head measurement of that big Pantanal male captured by Leandro in 2002 that was lying above the female, from that video I heard him saying ''37cm long'' on head length. as big as Shaka's head. RE: Jaguar Directory - Balam - 08-27-2020 PANTANAL: Profiles and updates from the Jaguar ID Project. I've already posted the profiles for Edno and Aju so I'm skipping those. "We want to shed some light on all the positive news we received last week. Please remember that the fires in the Porto Jofre region are still burning but we are working as fast as we can to help keep the fire from entering the Meeting of the Waters State Park, home to the worlds largest population of jaguars. Last week we had an astonishing report of 15 different individuals sighted in the park! It’s really nice to know everyone is doing well despite the surrounding fires. Jaguars seen: Aju Ãgue Andy Bé The Brothers (Borro and Xando) Capi Edno Ibaca Jaju Ousado Ti Tusk And two new Individuals that were seen mating! In times like these we are just getting numb to taking the good with the bad but its a bit daunting seeing this 20km x 3km long line of fire moving across the region and it’s on direct course for the State Park." *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author Unknown mating couple: *This image is copyright of its original author
RE: Jaguar Directory - Balam - 08-27-2020 PANTANAL: new female registered, southern Pantanal. "This beautiful female jaguar brought us a lot of luck last week: shortly after encountering her, it rained for the first time in months! That is why she has been named ‘Amana,’ which means ‘Rain’ in Tupi-Guarani. Aquiles Is yet another monstrous jaguar, is like we've been spoiled lately with so many great findings Great name for him and he looks massive! Its surprising that such an old, battle scared male has finally made his way to the meeting of the 4 rivers. RE: Jaguar Directory - Dark Jaguar - 09-04-2020 Male from Porto Jofre posted by Jorge Salomão. I managed to ID him and he happens to be Balam. He looks amazing. There are 2 videos on the post. RE: Jaguar Directory - Dark Jaguar - 09-04-2020 @Balam Exactly, the way he looks and how confident he is, he seems to be ready to take on any challengers who might dare take his territory, weight-wise he is indeed massive and I see he is on his prime, do you see all that mass over his body when he walks?? its means ''heaviness'' RE: Jaguar Directory - Balam - 09-04-2020 @Dark Jaguar that footage of Balam reminded me of this one from Edno: RE: Jaguar Directory - Dark Jaguar - 09-04-2020 @Balam Edno is another monster and such a fight to the death would be scary to see, we get why they wouldn't go all out most of the times in those battles. Its interesting cause sometimes a few of them will even ''set temporary truce'' and spend some time together that was also registered and reported by experts like these males bellow, but later on the competition shall continue. The competition in that area is very high, a camera Africam-like ( that famous website that broadcasts live 24/7 online the Sabi Sands lodges and other areas in its sorroundings in south Africa ) available in those high densities areas of jaguars such as Porto Jofre or Mamirauá Reserve in Amazon would be interesting to watch live. But I fear poachers could be watching it too so... nevermind.
