RE: Big Cat's Canines and Claws - GrizzlyClaws - 12-25-2017 (12-25-2017, 04:59 PM)Betty Wrote: Tiger This one looks lion, but I could be wrong though. RE: Big Cat's Canines and Claws - Spalea - 12-25-2017 About #712: narrow bottom of the fang... I woulds say lion rather than tiger (wider bottom). IMO RE: Big Cat's Canines and Claws - GrizzlyClaws - 12-25-2017 (12-25-2017, 08:54 PM)Spalea Wrote: About #712: narrow bottom of the fang... I woulds say lion rather than tiger (wider bottom). IMO Yep, although some lion fangs are more robust than tiger fangs, but their proportionally narrow root is still distinguishable. *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author
RE: Big Cat's Canines and Claws - GrizzlyClaws - 12-25-2017 (12-24-2017, 05:48 PM)Betty Wrote: Tiger This one has also been slightly stretched according to a veteran collector. It is likely that 7 cm is the absolutely ceiling for the big cat claws, even the specimens above 300 kg would only reach this magnitude, since their claws are retractable, and overgrown claws would only damage their paws. I would say that the longest claws for both lion and tiger are 7 cm at maximum, but 5-6 cm is much more common though. RE: Big Cat's Canines and Claws - Betty - 12-26-2017 African Lion Claw Length: measured at the outer curvature 8.6 cm Length approx. 5.0 cm https://auction.catawiki.com/kavels/14489367-african-lion-claw-panthera-leo-8-6-cm *This image is copyright of its original author
