RE: Tiger Directory - zain.azam - 06-04-2016 I finally managed to see Wagdoh last month after 7 trips to Tadoba! Somehow he always evaded me. It was a bittersweet to see him though.. such a magnificent tiger clearly on his last legs now. Driven to a tub of a water hole in his territory having previously had the entire forest of Tadoba under his control. I'd only ever seen photos of Wagdoh before, and people telling me how big he was. Honestly, photos are quite misleading. He looked short and fat in most photos. You really have to see Wagdoh to believe his size. He is MASSIVE! It's sad that I had to see him in this state, but without all the fat, you actually realize just how tall he is! The tallest tiger I've ever seen, easily! I have to ask, which reserves and tigers have you seen and other than wagdoh, who else stood out in your eyes? RE: Tiger Directory - Roflcopters - 06-04-2016 Wagdoh was easily the heaviest Central Indian male tiger in his prime and even till this very day, despite his old age. hes still the biggest male of Tadoba. Jai might be bigger in terms of height and maybe even overall body length but i doubt he was ever heavier than Prime Wagdoh. *This image is copyright of its original author
RE: Tiger Directory - sanjay - 06-04-2016 Welcome to the forum @zain.azam, It always exciting to hear stories from eyewitness. Since you have made more than half dozen trip of India to see tigers I am sure you have lot of things to share with us. I have to ask, which reserves and tigers have you seen and other than wagdoh, who else stood out in your eyes? Thanks! I went to Bandipur, Umred and Tadoba in very quick succession last month and saw Prince, Jaychand and Wagdoh (apart from a few females and cubs). Jaychand is obviously just a sub-adult but he's pretty impressive, still has a long way to go, but you can see he's got a massive figure to grow into. He's going to be an interesting tiger in the future, I have no doubt of that. I have to say, Prince (or Raja) has to be the most impressive tiger I've seen. He's built like a tank! He might not be as heavy as Wagdoh used to be, or as tall, but he's truly an incredible tiger! (Bear in mind that I unfortunately haven't seen Wagdoh in his prime) Here's 3 photos of them from relatively similar angles Jaychand - whom the guides claimed was nearing his father's size.. [attachment=302] The mighty Prince of Bandipur - Raja (who might also be nearing the end of his dominant reign) [attachment=303] Wagdoh - Way beyond his prime [attachment=304] Just look at the difference between Jaychand and Prince! I know it's an unfair comparison, but the guides in Umred really believe Jaychand isn't too far off his father. I wish I would've seen Jay instead. That way I could've seen 3 heavyweights in very quick succession! RE: Tiger Directory - zain.azam - 06-05-2016 I do however believe that the guides in Umred were overestimating Jaychand's size as I've seen photos and videos of Jay and he looks unnaturally large! Also, just to throw this in the mix, Munna's size is definitely overrated. In fact, I'd say he's just about average for a male tiger. He might be tough, but he isn't even in the same league as Wagdoh or Prince. Even Jaychand will probably be bigger than him in a year or so (provided Jay doesn't kill him first) Ive got nothing against Munna or Kanha, but that's the truth of it! In fact, I prefer Kanha's forest to Tadoba or Bandipur! But fact are facts. Did you see Munna? If you have, what other males have you seen from kahna and which ones impressed you the most? Thanks again @zain.azam RE: Tiger Directory - Roflcopters - 06-06-2016 the same person that went making Munna look larger than life also claimed that "kingfisher" was smaller than "chota munna". Zain.Azam pretty much nailed it. my thoughts exactly from a couple years back. Zain.Azam pretty much nailed it. my thoughts exactly from a couple years back. Ok, the only tiger I ever thought could of been larger than KF at the time was Bheema but that was quickly debunked and being able to see more and more images and videos of KF, I highly doubt any males can match up with him in Kahna, definitely not Mukki Range. Munna is always a highly debated cat, I certainly don't think he's in KF category but I always thought he was still a large tiger. Shorter shoulder height, but body length and mass were always impressive to me in his prime. I am curious how Link 7 compared to his father when he was healthier? RE: Tiger Directory - Roflcopters - 06-06-2016 Link 7 is the son of Munna and i personally feel that Munna was a lot bigger than him in his prime, the only thing is that i never saw Munna as an exceptionally large male as compared to others within the same reserve and i think a lot of people share the same opinion, I also noticed that Bheema has grown significantly since the collar was removed. Its a tough call determining who the biggest is after Kingfisher. I'd say all 4 of these Mukki guys are pretty impressive over all and smallest has to be link 7. RE: Tiger Directory - Apollo - 06-07-2016 @Pckts I think u r mistaken. @Roflcopters is talking about the guy "asianbuffalo" who as several login ids tigernation, youtube etc This guy talks alot of stuffs without knowing much. Most of the misinformation on Kanha was spread by this guy on internet. RE: Tiger Directory - Pckts - 06-07-2016 Ya, I remember Minha. He has since removed himself from FB and I don't really see his presence on Tigernation anymore. He had a weird affliction with Kahna tigers for some reason. Don't get me wrong, I love Kahna Males as much as the next guy, but its a big world out there and so many tigers from all over can be equally if not more impressive. |
