Absolutely astonishing RE: Human and Wild Animal Interaction - Rishi - 04-18-2018 Photos: Efforts to save ill leopard fail in Dehradun Apr 18, 2018 DEHRADUN: A three-year-old leopard whose sighting created panic among residents of Gullar Ghati near Nakronda in Dehradun, died on Tuesday after it was rescued by the forest department. According to Dehradun divisional officer Rajiv Dhiman, the wildlife veterinary officer of Rajaji Tiger Reserve, Aditi Sharma, was called to tranquilize the animal but he appeared so sick that people could approach it & with little efforts, he was easily moved caged. He was then taken to a rescue centre in Dehradun zoo. *This image is copyright of its original author Sharma who examined his health, initially said that the leopard appeared starved and dehydrated. It later died after it stopped responding to antibiotics and drip. *This image is copyright of its original author The DFO added that the leopard initially responded to antibiotics and glucose drip at the rescue centre but died on Tuesday evening. It was earlier decided to keep it under observation for three days. RE: Human and Wild Animal Interaction - AlexE - 05-05-2018 Lion attack idiot RE: Human and Wild Animal Interaction - AlexE - 06-27-2018 A black panther has mauled a man to death in a brutal attack at a private zoo in Russia. The victim, reported to be a zoo keeper, was mauled by the big cat after unlocking the entrance in an attempt to feed it. The unnamed victim, who is said to be Ukrainian and in his late 20s, suffered multiple bites in the attack, which also saw the panther escape. The escape sparked a major search which lasted for several hours until the animal was recovered. The private zoo, situated in Obnovlenny Trud, a village near Moscow, has had no other reported incidents and has other big cats, including a lion and tiger. According to reports, its owner Sergey Knyaginichev denied claims the man was a keeper at the zoo instead saying he was a visitor from the Ukraine. The Investigative Committee - which deals with serious crimes in Russia - said a probe has been launched into the accident. *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author

Strong man saves child from dog attack RE: Human and Wild Animal Interaction - AlexE - 07-23-2018 *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author Over the past 15 years, 1.2 million animals have been killed by Americans who traveled overseas to snag their trophies, according to a thoroughly chilling investigation by NBC Bay Area. That breaks down to about 70,000 animals each year. Many of these animals are endangered, threatened or near-threatened species. If the numbers aren't staggering enough, the regulation of these imports sounds like a losing battle, since violations abound. In the Bay Area, according to the report, there are only four wildlife inspectors who only have time to inspect 50 percent of trophies shipped back to the states through that region. In the past five years, there have been 2,963 documented violations in the U.S. - such as hidden trophies, or skins rolled up in other skins - and a majority of the violations (54 percent) related to the Endangered Species Act. Because of spotty oversight of U.S. trophy hunting imports, poachers can take advantage of the system to bring back carcasses and sell them on the black market. Perhaps the most chilling part? The bears, wolves, deer, birds and other animals U.S. hunters kill each year right here in their home country: over 200 million. https://www.thedodo.com/us-trophy-hunters-killed-million-1464045989.html RE: Human and Wild Animal Interaction - AlexE - 08-14-2018 Better dead hunter than a dead animal *This image is copyright of its original author An Argentinian hunter named Jose Monzalvez was killed after being crushed by an elephant. The 46-year-old was part of a hunter group tracking an elephant herd in a private wildlife area in Namibia. One of the elephants is reported to have charged before the men could shoot, and that’s when the tragedy happened. Relatives have been informed of the man’s death. It is known that Monzalvez had an official permit to hunt. Still, the Internet’s reaction has been overwhelmingly negative, with many people expressing their disgust with the big game hunting. It is also worth noting it was not the first time a hunter was killed this year.
