Still sad that the PCM's have seemingly abandoned them. I can't say the Magheni's are my favorite as they are the bully's of the area, but still don't wish them bad fortune.

Wow, such odd and interesting behavior by Tumbella and even the cubs. They know somethingthig we dont. Some of them might be his. I would put good money on that. Stranger males don't just accept and take care if other males cubs in most instances. Such a weird dynamic.

They are not his.
Sometimes, nomadic and especially older/weaker/unhealthy males, often follow and "use" prides because of easy access to food, (especially prides who cant chase them off that easily and who dont have territorial protectors) without any other intentions.
We also saw numerous examples of males adopting cubs and subs, some even in takeover scenarios, this is far from it.
And as for this interaction, thats pretty normal interaction when males are dominating carcasses, they dont want others to feed, especially females, while some cubs do sneak in, they "allow" that because cubs are small and cant eat nearly as much as big females.
I mean we saw that similary with S.Avoca on the kill with them aswell, he was also trying to dominate that kill, but females and cubs fight back.

I personally doubt lions are even aware of the specifics of reproduction. Pregnancies just happen to lionesses, cubs just show up one day in the males perspective and the concept of being the father completely alien. Mating is just for mating sake with the specifics guided by instinct.

According to Savanna IG, the Mhangenis have lost another male cub after their head count this morning while on a buffalo kill. They were also spotted recently without one of the cubs and it returned, so it’s nowhere near confirmed but something to look out for.

I am going to take this with a big heap of salt.
It sounds like they are refering to the earlier clash. But the mentioned numbers are way off. As if this is a post writen during the confusion around that time. But accidentally scheduled for now.
