RE: Large male tigers from India (Videos Only) - Pckts - 03-01-2017 He was the male who I posted where the photographer mistakenly added him in a collage with bheem and said they were the same, @phatio spotted some differences between stripe patterns, @Ngala noticed the same and @Apollo confirmed it. Mangu had a swollen jaw in 2015 now he has a prominent scar on his nose, similar to bameras which makes him easier to ID. There are some images of him that I posted on the B2 thread as well, he's a big boy. Ive no idea where Bheem came from. Both Bheem and Mangu showed their presence in the tourism zone around the same time. Bheem took control of Khitauli and Mangu controlled Magdhi zone. It would be great if we can get more info on these males. @Pckts do you know which male injured Mangu in the fight which resulted in swollen throat and cut-up nose ? Here is a nice video of Mangu RE: Large male tigers from India (Videos Only) - Pckts - 03-01-2017 No idea @Apollo but I did see a post from 2014 where the photographer said that some believe mangu was also known as "bighead" son of Bamera. No idea if it's true or not. RE: Large male tigers from India (Videos Only) - Ngala - 03-01-2017 You know how old are they? The very similar stripes pattern between the two males, could indicate that they are brother or maybe the same litter? RE: Large male tigers from India (Videos Only) - Apollo - 03-02-2017 (03-01-2017, 11:31 AM)Pckts Wrote: No idea @Apollo but I did see a post from 2014 where the photographer said that some believe mangu was also known as "bighead" son of Bamera. Mangu is called by different names like Munga, Chinkoo, Kulwah male. Chinkoo means roundface and bighead, this is confirmed by Kay Tiwari. So Bighead is also another name for Mangu, so you are right about that. @Pckts if possible try to contact that photographer from 2014 for details on Mangu's ancestry. If we can atleast get Mangu's mother name and year of the litter, we can trace out his history. As far as I know Bamera was attacked by Bheem, Bhagoda and Jobhi during his last years but not by Mangu. Once after the dethroning of Bamera in early 2013 by Rahasy, the downfall of Bandhavgarh started. Rahasy being an elusive male, sighting of him was very rare. The former king Bamera was down with injuries and was constantly challenged by Somanshu, Jobhi and Pushparaj. If not for that leg injury which Bamera suffered till his death, these males (Jobhi, Somanshu, Pushparaj) wouldnt dare to challenge him. Due to this sightings of Bamera became rare. Many visited Bandhavgarh to see BIG BAM. In the meantime Kankatti tigress died and her territory was taken over by a shy tigress. Finally the disappearance of Rahasy, Somanshu, Pushparaj and Kanwar seal the deal for Bandhavgarh. Sightings of tigers became very rare and tourist moved towards Tadoba, Kanha etc. I wanted to write a nice Tribute to my beloved late BIG BAM, but unfortunately no time to do it at the moment. May be in the future. Ive seen Bamera right in his prime and he was a Monster. Ive seen a 550lbs tiger in captivity several times and Bamera was definitely bigger than him. I also like to mention that many of us at wildfact think that Jobhi lost an eye fighting Bheem, but actually its not true. Jobhi lost an eye when fighting Bamera. I wanted to mention this in my Tribute writeup, but thought of sharing it now. RE: Large male tigers from India (Videos Only) - Apollo - 03-03-2017 T91 male tiger from zone 3 in Ranthambore. Hello Friends, agree. In last year or so he has grown into a very large tiger. When I saw him 11 months back, he was a bit smaller. So he is still growing. He must be around 4 years old. Yes, he is son of Saturn/namdev. Saturn was also called matkasur male by some guides because he came from that area. This current one is called new matkasur male RE: Large male tigers from India (Videos Only) - Apollo - 03-06-2017 (03-05-2017, 12:40 AM)Pckts Wrote:(03-05-2017, 12:20 AM)Apollo Wrote: Holly molly he is a monster.
