@1ofCourage Skorro Jr defeated Nhenha in a 1v1 fight as reported by rangers and later tracks showed him chasing both Nhenha and NK male. Western Sector is fenced and small, they had nowhere to go, only way out was through Singita, PCM's territory, he couldn't run away with them. When Sassy got close to Singita at some point the PCM killed some cubs.

Most males will leave as soon as they realize they are outnumbered or after the first clash, studies shows that lions will not reply or even get outright ousted when scientists would simulate roars from more lions than those from the local coalition. Skorro Jr did more than most would.

@Mapokser are you sure about the above quotation??
I don't remember hearing that Skorro Jr. chased Nhenha and NK but the other way around. And about the 1 vs 1 fight, I think the rangers said that Nhenha got a few more injuries compared to Skorro Jr. but at the end Skorro Jr. was chased off.

They came across the buffalo carcass and fed on it. Don't recall it being stated whom it was that killed it or it could've died from natural causes as well.

Edit: Still shot of Tumbela male finding the buffalo carcass.

Skorro Jr. chased Nhenha off, but sustained more injuries, slight front leg limp and broken tooth, Nhenha pretty much went clean, with only few small scars on face.

Yea, on 1 occasion there was tracks of him chasing both, but he eventually lost the war when Birminghams become more confident as duo, as they where quite new coalition when that happened.

He isn't a lioness so I doubt he would hunt to feed them and while he can defend them from hyenas, all subadults were killed by male lions and he can't defend them from PCM, maybe if they meet NK he then would be useful to have around. He also roars from time to time which can bring the PCM's attention to them. He probably would defend them from Ximhungwe and Gingerella but in this case would be better if he was with these 2 instead of his daughters because if PCM arrives he can ran and the females won't be in trouble, if the PCM attacks him while he is with his daughters, it'll be the end of it.

Idk, but i feel more relief/secure that Skorro Jr is with them, having big male with you can be handful in wild, except PC males, no other lions or hyenas will mess with them in western sector.

And if they encounter PC males, its more likely they would go after Skorro Jr. first, leaving 2 girls more room to escape.

Problem might be if he "drags" then near Ximhungwe and Gingerella, they are territorial females, who will attack 2 young girls, question is which side would Skorro Jr take.

Got it. Thank you bro.

If they meet the two females I think chances are Skorro Jr will stop any fights, it's the natural behavior since we now know for sure he still recognizes them as offspring.

As for the injuries in the Skorro Jr's fight with Nhenha, a broken canine isn't an injure Nhenha inflicted on him, on the contrary, Skorro Jr broke his canine biting Nhenha.

That's great...
Atleast little girls hadn't encountered Nkuhuma male.
So it must either be Skorro jr. or 1/2 PC male

The blood on Nkuhuma is more widely suspected to be from a kill.   Not from a fight.

I’ve asked the photographer is there is more footage or clarity.   No response yet

RE: Othawa Pride - Mapokser - 01-15-2023

@criollo2mil other posters here were certain he was injured.

That blood doesn't look like it's from the wildebeest kill but I hope it is.

The photographer herself has added context (probably being bombarded by questions)

She clarifies this was indeed taken post kill

In my estimate, this could simply be as a result of josting for position at the kill w ximunghwe.  The region around his eyes is likely  sensitized to injury as a result of repeated aggravations.   Very much like his father’s habitual eye scars.

Girls greeting their dad:

RE: Othawa Pride - Mapokser - 01-18-2023

They have been living without an adult for months, if anything being with their father will at least make their stress levels go down.

Hopefully he doesn't drain their food resources and doesn't draw attention from other lions.

Edit: Additional sighting added.
