It looks like the male tiger wanted to be playful, while the male lion got annoyed. RE: Freak Specimens - Apollo - 11-08-2017 (11-08-2017, 11:20 AM)GrizzlyClaws Wrote: Tussle between lion and tiger. Thank god the tussle ended soon. I guess the people outside did a good job shouting and distracting the cats. Even though it looks like a small skirmish the position and the hold the tiger had on the lion is dangerous. The throat hold very easily trigger killer instincts. I've personally known two separate instants where two Asiatic lions killed by Bengal tigers instantly by throat hold. In both cases the situation and the scenario were very similar. Both the lions usually dominated the two tigers (in human perspective) during feeding time and the lions always made sure his presence was felt, always roaring and throwing in swipes. The tigers ignored them for most of the time or moved and gave away for the lions. But on those two particular occasions when the lions roared, paw swiped and moved forward, the tigers didn't move away, instead they went directly for the throat and killed the lions so quickly even before the keepers had any time to react. In one of those incidents the tiger didn't even make any noise before and after killing the lion. One keeper told me you can never trust a tiger or understand them. (1st incident). Other person told me "on that particular day I witnessed the real strength of the tiger". It made him to both fear and respect the tigers. He also had some nightmares on this particular incident. (2nd incident). In both cases it's completely human mistakes for putting such powerful animals together. RE: Freak Specimens - sanjay - 11-08-2017 Agree with Apollo. Tigers attack and playful mood can not be determine, when they will turn into violent from playful mood, no one knows about it. Though, I have not seen tiger killing lion, but I have seen tiger killing tiger and they do it very softly and gently without much roar and noise. In this case lion seems to be skinny but he retreated very well. He didn't like it and made it clear after giving a paw swipe at the end |
