RE: Wild Boar - Styx38 - 04-14-2019 While adult Wild Boar are formidable in their own right, Leopards have been documented to kill them in some parts of Asia: 1) Although most were juveniles, an adult wild boar was part of the Leopard's diet in Iran: *This image is copyright of its original author Source: Elmira Sharbafi, Mohammad S. Zoology in the Middle East, 1–8. 2) The Sri Lankan Source I posted before mentioned that while there were 3 Sambar Stag killed by the Leopard, there was one adult wild boar killed by a Leopard: *This image is copyright of its original author Source: Kittle, Andrew et. al. He said the photograph was taken in Turkey. I took his word for it. but he could have been mistaken. I know people who were born and raised in the eastern part of Turkey. Some of them still hunt every now and then. They told me eastern Turkey has some wild regions and large wild boars. At the level of averages the Ussuri wild boar is the largest, but wild boars in the southwestern part of central Asia can also grow to a large size. When you say wild boar, you say tiger. The Caspian tiger (Panthera tigris virgata), now extinct, was more or less common in eastern Turkey not so long ago. The people I know tell me they still hear rumours about tigers in eastern Turkey. Same for Afghanistan and a few other regions. The measurements I have suggest Caspian tigers in the southwestern part of their former range could have been a bit larger than those living in the northeastern part. According to the people I talked to, wild boars topped the list of tigers in Turkey.
