RE: Who's Been To Africa? - sanjay - 09-08-2016 Hello @Pckts, Nice to see that you are fulfilling your dream. All the best buddy and have a joyful and memorable journey. We will wait for pics and your experience. Currently, are you in UAE ? RE: Who's Been To Africa? - Pckts - 09-08-2016 Thanks @sanjay Right now I'm in the UAE, I'm about to go on a desert safari which includes camel riding... Haha Should be interesting. We went to the Dubai mall today and saw the aquarium, they have a massive salt water croc displayed there, I got some good pics of him, I'll post them once I'm back. This is a once in a lifetime journey, make the most of it :) RE: Who's Been To Africa? - Amnon242 - 09-09-2016 Chaos said that very well, there is nothing more to say... Enjoy your trip PCKTS! Amnon RE: Who's Been To Africa? - Pckts - 09-10-2016 Thanks guys, tomorrow is the big day. I'll finally get to do something I've dreamt about for my entire life, I'll make sure to document it. Btw. Dubai=Amazing Definitely a perfect stop, probably not a place you want to vacation for a long period of time but it's definitely somewhere you want to visit at least once. I just got done at the burj khalifia (tallest building in the world) and its amazing! RE: Who's Been To Africa? - Pckts - 09-10-2016 Well unfortunately my flight to kilomajaro got delayed and I'm currently sitting in the airport but something amazing happened, another person who got screwed on our same flight is Shaji Mohammed, he is another wildlife photographer and we are having an amazing discussion. He's seen lions in Africa and Asia, tigers from Ranth, kahna, Tadoba and more. I'll make sure to give cliff notes as well. Everything happens for a reason I guess. Hopefully we catch a flight later tonight. Update: flight booked, I'll be in Africa by 11 tonight RE: Who's Been To Africa? - sanjay - 09-10-2016 Awesome packts, As much as we are reading you we are getting more excited You can post your non-wildlife experience on nationwarrior too. RE: Who's Been To Africa? - Pckts - 09-10-2016 Notes from shaji discussion His opinions below: Tigers are larger than lions. Shivaji or Waghdoh are the largest tigers he's seen Sri Lanken leopards are not the largest leopards, African leopards are. Believes ustaad shouldn't have been removed Asiatic lions are not exciting, they are very tame compared to their African counterparts due to the fd proceedures with them. Munna is a normal sized tiger but very mellow with tourists. Ranthambhore males aren't any larger than any other males he's seen. He's photographed polar bears and Jaguars in the pantanal as well. Went to the Sunderbans but couldn't photograph a tiger, it's really rare. Compared it to a 1/500 chance The largest tigers he's seen are from Tadoba (Shivaji, wagdoh) RE: Who's Been To Africa? - peter - 09-10-2016 Question to our correspondent in Africa: How is Africa? Landscape? People? Tell us about the organisation of the trip. RE: Who's Been To Africa? - Pckts - 09-10-2016 Unfortunately my flight was changed so now I'm on my way to Nairobi then to Arusha, I will update as soon as I begin my Safari adventure. But so far, my booking company as been extremely accommodating with my unforeseen changes, they are called 365 safari. RE: Who's Been To Africa? - Pckts - 09-11-2016 Off on day one of safari.... tarangire, here we come! RE: Who's Been To Africa? - Pckts - 09-11-2016 Tarangire was amazing, I can't wait to post my images, it's already been my favorite trip ever. RE: Who's Been To Africa? - Amnon242 - 09-13-2016 where is your report, brother? We are waiting for the news! RE: Who's Been To Africa? - Pckts - 09-13-2016 I get very little wifi in the Serengeti, but I have seen every animal you can think of, all I have left for the big five is a leopard. Today will be our first full day through the Serengeti, we're leaving very early to try and spot rhino, I got yelled at by an elephant for clicking with my flash on, capes all over the place and hyena calls at night. We saw the crater from above, spotted two rhino with binoculars, it's amazing there. We stopped at oludpi gorge, not "olduvi" btw, it's been incorrectly named by German discoverers. I'll give a full update once o have better wifi, but now it's time for a full day through the Serengeti, wish me luck. This has been the most amazing trip of my life, I can't wait to talk in depth with you guys about it. |
