It is marginally small then the common leopard and the name snow leopard is very apt for it as it lives in the snow covered areas. often solitary, although overlap of home ranges of males and with other males and with females have been seen. Despite being a large carnivore, the harsh terrain and climate forces it to have a wide dietary range and that includes birds, rodents and wild goats like blue sheep and also small alpine mammals animals like marmots, pikas and hare are its diet. It is found thru the Himalayas from Jammu and Kashmir to Arunachal Pradesh and the trans Himalayan of Ladakh, Lahaul-Spitu, Gangotri and Two Lhasa, Its range closely approximates the geographical range of its prey, the Bharal and the Ibex. *This image is copyright of its original author
