I had just read an earlier comment how the older lioness might be with the Tumbela male lion.

She's presumed dead, guide also said the PCM haven't been in the area for a while as they're expanding their territory, when answering if they had been with the Manghenis recently.

Anyway with the elder Manghenis gone, the Mapogo coalition is down to 0 living offspring which is sad, but most of their adult offspring lived long lives.

At least the last elder Mangheni left a son in this generation, sired by PCM, I truly hope he can reach adulthood and be successful with his 4 brothers. Here a screenshot of him ( in the front ) from the video, he turned 1yo this month, the month his mother likely died:

He is the last grandson of the Mapogo coalition and the Split Rock males, as well as a grandson of the Mantimahles, of course, through his fathers.

He also seems to have a darker fur compared to some of his siblings, here some older photos of him showing it:

RIP some of the greatest Queens Sabi Sands has ever seen, the 4 OG Mangheni females! All 4 of them have living offspring and greatcubs currently alive.

First one to die, the most "mysterious" one, here with the Mangheni 12:

Second one to die, the Mr.T female version, one of the most successful of them:

Classic Mr.T appearance:

Third one to die, the mightiest Mangheni female, powerful body and huge head:

She's the mother of the biggest lioness in the Sabi Sands, K6. She also mated with the PCM but unfortunately any potential cubs from these matings did not survive:

She's also, IMO, the most beautiful of the 4 Manghenis, she's stunning just like the Mapogo who resembles her, Dreadlocks, who was the most handsome of his coalition:

And then the last one to died, following her sister not long after she died. Here the last Mangheni with the Tsalala female ( her niece ) sleeping at her "lap":

Tsalala ( front ) and the last Mangheni:

Quite often she showed a striking resemblance to the Makhulu Mapogo from her father's coalition:

The 1/2 Mangheni male, brother to the Kambulas, seen last year in Kruger was her son, he ruled there with his brother for ~4 years so chances are that this Mangheni female's bloodline is also thriving in Kruger:

I hope this guy's /\ younger brother can be as successful as him.

Nice, Mapokser!

RE: Mangheni Pride - Mapokser - 06-29-2024

"The three remaining Mangheni females and 10 cubs payed a visit this into the Western Sector. They looked okay but somewhat hungry"

The road ahead won't be easy, it'll be tough to get all 10 cubs to adulthood while having only 3 hunters, one having a limp.

We will see, they need "only" ~ 1 year until those cubs will be useful in hunts, but 3 females should be enough to feed them atm.

2 Styxs where in same situation with Ndhzengas offspring from 2021, more then 10 cubs, but food was never the problem, problem was they become nomads again and started losing them because of other lions.

Western sector and Singita is quite stable atm, and even if PCMs dont visit Mhangenis that often, until they are still visiting WS and Singita, Mhangenis are close enough to stay under their influence.

Mhangenis are still strongest pride in WS/Singita.

That is a good point. Actually talking about the Mapogo daughters reminded me of the Rollercoster daughters. The Mapogo daughters were 14 years of age? The Rollercoster daughters were a bit older? I was reading a comment how the Split Rock male lion is the grandfather of the Tsalala lioness. I think the Rollercoster lioness in the Styxt pride was also daughter of the Split Rock male lions. Back to your comment you are right the Styxt pride was doing very good and very strong with the male lion with them. Once they left it got harder once the 4 Talamatie daughters started to be in the South and the Southern lionesses started getting stronger all in one area in the South or close by.

RE: Mangheni Pride - Go131810 - 06-29-2024

I wonder how the Styxt young lionesses are doing. I was really happy knowing when the Styxt pride had grew very fast. I wanted to find out who the lionesses were and who were their cubs and the male lions they were with. Hopefully they can be a strong pride. It is true once the Ndhzenga male lions left the Styxt pride became nomadic. Speaking of the Styxt pride I think they would do better in the West or the north.

Youngest Mangheni cub on 06-29-2024 by Savanna:

RE: Mangheni Pride - criollo2mil - 07-07-2024

Three separate sightings of the mangheni today in western sector.    In one report , they say Tumbela is in their company.    Alarmingly only 9 cubs are accounted for.   It is not believed that Tumbela has anything to do w missing cub.    Singita reported 9 also and Tumbela was not there at that sighting.

RE: Mangheni Pride - Mapokser - 07-07-2024

PCM might have abandoned them, even when they move to the Western Sector, the Manghenis don't seem to be joined by the PCM, they only, for some reason, look for Ximgungwe.

If Tumbela was with Nkuhuma then suddenly the cubs would get killed ( hopefully none was with Tumbela there ).

This wasn't as big of a threat when they had 5 lionesses to defend the cubs, but now with only 3, there's nothing they can do against 2 males and even a single injured lion like Tumbela is a threat.
