The longest leopard from India, measured "between pegs", was of 249 cm, so a male of 239 cm seems completelly plausible, and a weight of 77 kg seems correct for it; a shoulder height of 68.6 cm seems correct too, as the tallest Indian leopards was recorded at 74 cm.

Surely, I agree. Indian Leopards are also the longest aren’t they? Are they also the tallest?

I wonder why Indian Leopards still lag behind in terms of weight.

Like all leopards indian leopards are typically thin with the exception of well fed forest dwelling specimens. They are also shorter than african leopards and probably persian leopards as well. I dont think its fair to say that they should be the most massive or heavy leopards simply because of their length.

Indian leopards that have a good prey base and no competition are just as heavy as persian leopards there are many examples of this.

Please read my comment again. I did NOT say that Indian Leopards are the most massive or heavy. I said Indian Leopards are the longest and tallest (I actually asked rather than claim)

And yes, that’s obviously because of the Tigers and in Gir, Gujarat, the Lions.
You said you wondered why indian leopards lagged behind in weight. What i meant was we cant expect them to be just as heavy as persian or SL leopards simply because they are longer

Well length does have a positive correlation to weight.

Yes and this is probably the reason why these leopards are still comparable in weight to other sub species.

Unfortunately, it’s likely that the Leopards will shrink even more in the coming time due to being suppressed by Tigers.

Here is a young male leopard that was recently camera trapped in turkey.

"The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will not disclose the regions where Anatolian leopards have been detected for security reasons. In the examinations and studies, it was reported that leopards were detected in 4 different regions."

So leopard presence has been confirmed in 4 different regions in turkey.

RE: Persian Leopard (Panthera pardus saxicolor) - Luipaard - 08-11-2022

New records of the Anatolian leopard (Panthera pardus tulliana Valenciennes 1856) in Türkiye

"We obtained three thermal camera videos recorded by Turkish security forces. In the one recorded from Şırnak in 2017, the leopard’s distance was about 107 m to the thermal camera. The screenshots taken from the thermal camera video have the leopard walking alongside a water buffalo with the leopard’s body structure such as body length, shoulder height and tail are clearly visible"

"Another thermal video obtained by Turkish security forces was recorded in Erzincan provinces in 2019. The leopard was about 200 m away from the thermal camera (Figure 3), and in the screenshots taken from the thermal camera video, the body structure, tail and neck of the leopard can be clearly seen. In the original video recording, the body structure and characteristic movements of the leopard can be distinguished more clearly."

"The last thermal video obtained from Turkish security forces was recorded in Şırnak provinces from Cudi mountain (Habis Tepe) in November 2021. The leopard’s distance from the camera was about 50 m. In these screenshots taken from the thermal camera video, the body structure, tail, and rosettes of the leopard can be clearly seen. The sex of the recorded leopard is difficult to determine as the testicles are not clearly visible."

Great find. I looked up the image and a Syrian brown bear also passed the camera trap. Here's a comparison:

It's a huge male leopard for sure. This was recorded somewhere in northern Iran where the biggest Persian leopards are to be found so no real surprise here.
