A injured leopard was found near garden in ooty on 15 th may, the forest dept staff rescued it and took for treatment to Government veterinary hospital ,its been treated there for more than two weeks now.
When the leopard came to the hospital it was suspected of poisoning but it was negative, blood samples were sent all the tests came as negative. The leopard was bedridden for the first ten days with good treatment by dedicated vet's and forest staff , now the animal is able to walk and has started to drink and eat with the help of humans , from day one the dedication by vet's and forest staff the leopard is now alive, with no proper facility to treat a wild animal inspite of this they managed to treat the animal ,24/7 the animal is taken care with live video.
If the leopard was inside the bush it would have died on the same day the treatment by young vet's has given a new life for the leopard , now it's able to walk and eat meat .
There is a desperate need for a wild animal rescue center in Niligiris with state of the art facilities.

Courtesy of @Dark Jaguar, Cerrado jaguar compared to researcher Leandro Silveria. Some of these jaguars really do look bear-like in appearance with their stocky builds and powerful heads:

Marlon du Toit: " Caught in the act!! Also, watch till the end for a little cameo by my wifey @lourettedutoit ?She’s always worried about what I get up to. All in the name of a great photograph!

Although I’m a little leaned out of the vehicle here, it was all done in a manner as to not provoke the animals. You can see no change in their behaviour. Best not to do this yourselves on your next safari, unless otherwise instructed by your local guide!
Her reaction of moving away after mating is typical of courtship behavior between lions. She’s being playful & “flirty” as its still early days on their 3-day long maying foray. "

These are sensitive images and I'm only posting to bring awareness to this specific jaguar population.

In Suriname there has been a historic trend of jaguar poaching which has debilitated their genetic pool and prey base. Suriname was said to have the largest jaguars from the Amazon biomes with some males reaching 120 kg in weight. Here are some collected canines:
