Scar of the musketeers is mating with an older paradise lioness and they are upstream of the main crossing. Scar is looking well with the exception of his right rear leg which he favors and limps heavily on; there is no open wound so this may be an internal injury. The other three musketeers are across the river into the Trans Mara conservancy. *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author

RE: Other male lion coalitions from Masai Mara - Musketeers - 10-28-2016 Yes nice shots @"Majingilane" Onesmus Ole Irungu gives almost everyday an update about male lion coalitions in the mara, great job ! I am sure that in the last picture in front is Sikio and behind him Morani, he has a darker mane. RE: Other male lion coalitions from Masai Mara - Ngala - 10-29-2016 Photo and information credits: Yash Mahadik Photography Romeo: The Lion King of Olare Motorogi Conservancy from the Enkoyanai pride. He is looking beaten and worn-out, but he is still the King. When a lion is beaten-up and down, his Mane tells that. Romeo and Mohican's brotherhood has ruled and protected this pride for close to a decade now. They are absolutely awesome Lions. However, age has caught up with these Lions and they are being challenged by young nomadic lions who are trying to kill them to take over their pride. During the last 3 months there is a bloody battle raging between Lions in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy of Mara. Each battel has left everyone surprised with the resilience of Romeo and Mohican. They just refuse to loose or succumb. When I was in Mara in August, I was told that Romeo was beaten-up very badly and he was recovering and healing his wounds in an isolated area away from his pride. I had to find and meet Romeo, he is a fantastic Lion and I couldn't have missed meeting him this time. Our Guide and Driver Jackson from Game Watchers, finally tracked down Romeo and took me to him. It was in the middle of the afternoon and the light was extremely harsh (pardon me for the average quality of this image), It was very important for me to make some portraits of Romeo - Coz, this may well be the last time I was meeting Romeo - its not going to be long before he is killed and the younger and stronger nomadic Lions will take over his territory and pride . Such is life and they are laws of nature. So, my wildlife photography skills were put to an ultimate test and I managed to get a few good images of this Lion King.
