The 2nd Mbiri males' sister is the mother of Junior Matimba the 2nd and his sister. The three other lionesses don't have cubs at the moment. I, also, am unaware of a lioness called bad teeth from the Mangheni pride, so I am not sure who that is. Wrote: But it’s still I inbreeding Yes or no and how many cubs are in the mbiri Pride? Yes still inbreeding. I'm not so sure how we can get around this with lions as the population has become so small the gene pool is no longer diverse enough. And that goes for all lions in the wild. Hopefully it pans out and more of the good genes pass on and the bad genes don't but its basically all we have nowadays. RE: Mangheni Pride - criollo2mil - 09-05-2023 1/2 of the Mhangeni Matriarchs w the newest cub of the Pride. RE: Mangheni Pride - Mapokser - 09-06-2023 @criollo2mil only 1 cub, the other one died according to the guide. Poor lioness always lose her cubs. Speculation on the reasons they lost so many cubs, was that it was because of the pride being semi-nomadic and constantly on the move, poor babies couldn't keep up. So, now that they are much more static, hopefully they can raise these cubs to adulthood. RE: Mangheni Pride - Duco Ndona - 09-06-2023 That theory was probably flawed to begin with otherwise there would be a lot more death cubs by now. And not just with that particular pride. In fact, I always had my doubts about the whole Mhangeni being terrible mothers thing. Its more due to bad luck and a string of weak and unreliable pridemales. And not just with that particular pride. I believe during the particular time we are discussing, the deaths of all of OM's cubs, they had no pride male. RE: Mangheni Pride - Mwk85 - 09-06-2023 3/5 lionesses and cubs on a buffalo carcass. Savanna has/had the lead up to them coming to the carcass posted on their story feed. Edit: The youngest cub was brought to the kill as well. No surprise, it was getting bullied by at least one of the older cubs. |
