Just use the zoom. Manual focus is only required in specific situations, like when the subject is obstructed by twigs or blades of grass or any undergrowth.

When I put on the 18mm-55mm and shoot, It focuses well on the back round but if its pointed at one of my cats, the image is a bit blurry.
I assume because its too close to focus on the animal, but any advice would help.

Here is what I mean....

(don't mind the crying face haha)
I was focussed on my cat but you can see the backround clearer than the cat and i was curious if its just because the cat is so close.
And when I put on the larger lense and focused on a cat  outside, the cat was blurry but the shrubs and trees were clear.

Is this a persistent problem? Difficult to tell if it is because you're too close to the animal or something else without taking a look at your camera.

I went and took some shots outside in the park and it looks better, I also adjusted the screen to the 3D option which was recommended by a camera specialist and that seemed to help as well. I'll try to take some similar shots again this week and see if I still notice it. Thanks for your time, you've been extremely helpful.

So pckts, where do you plan on going within Africa? Kruger park? Serengeti? Ngorongoro crater? Someday, I want to go there as well.

I am going to Tanzania
I will travel through the serengeti and finish with Ngorongora crater.
We will be there in Sept which should be the tail end of the migration but apparently the migration started later this year so may be it will start late again next year and we could be there for the heart of it.
But I am so excited, I can't wait. If you want any info on the company I used feel free and ask. I will provide you with any thing I can.

Last year i visted Kenya. Tsavo Park was a nice place for me. It's close to the coastal town called Mombasa. I had a good time sand bathing and I saw the ancient Fort Jesus too. Am planning to visit Tanzania next. Is it nice to visit?

RE: Who's Been To Africa? - Pckts - 03-26-2016

I don't leave until sept. But everything I've heard from people who have visited say it's a majestic place.
Welcome Jamarion
