It was quite interesting, because at the same time both of the Fourways males also got injured, especially the male with the orange eyes, I read they had a fight for the carcass of a giraffe that the Charleston males killed.

The Fourways were walking a bit stiff, of course, but this wounds won't hold them much, especially now that they are working much more closely with the Southern Pride females, who apparently have accepted them as dominant males.

Here the brothers were deciding who got to mate with the girl.

A little update on the Fourways males, credits to Sabi Sabi blog:
The Fourways male lions have been quite busy this week, having been found on a buffalo kill first and then meeting up with the Southern Pride females after they too had managed to take down a blue wildebeest.  The females finished their kill in its entirety, but the males seem to have departed from theirs prematurely due to the intense heat that we’ve been experiencing here in the Lowveld.  I can tell you, the smell around that sighting was less than appealing.  The males then went back to doing what we are used to seeing from them by now and that is mating with the females and attempting to keep them from moving off too far.  We still have a female that has been AWOL for a few weeks and are wondering whether or not she has conceived and is searching for a suitable place to birth her cubs.  If not, then we simply have no explanation.

No one knows. The story is that the Fourways pride was a breakaway from the Windmill pride who reside in the KNP. 2 females of this pride broke away and mated with the Majins, and produced 3 cubs (2females, 1males) in 2010.
The Fourways pride adopted 2 males lions (who likely came from the main Windmill pride) during 2012-2013. One was mortally injured by the Matimbas (there's a video), and the other one is one of the two Fourways male now.

Apparently, the dead lion is the Kruger male. It's a little bit difficult to do the ID because the head was in the water when he was found. But it seems he had a fight with the Two Charleston males a couple of weeks ago. Maybe that left him injured and due to his old age he eventually weakened and die.

The Fourways males and two Southern Pride females were on a buffalo kill this morning. Wondering where the other two females were, we went down the road and found them on another buffalo kill.

Farewell to The Kruger Male- By JEFF LAMPKIN:
It's not often you get to spend time with a legend like we did back in 2012. The Kruger Male, Freddy to his friends, died last week after close to 11 years of beating the odds in Sabi Sands. So many things that we hear male lions never do Freddy did. From adopting step sons and daughters, to slipping away from his family when the odds were insurmountable and fighting would have meant sure death, to avoiding the Majininglane coalition that destroyed any and all male lions in the area, to teaming up with Solo, once his arch enemy who at the time of his death was his best friend and on and on.....These are just a few clips of the time we spent with him including the uncut walk up video that added to his legend and a cameo by the queen of Sabi Sands, Mandleve, Floppy Ear to HER friends . There are also pics from the Lions of Sabi Sands & KNP Male Lions groups from Facebook, both run by Syl Yemen who has kept me abreast of my guy's movement over the past three years. There were several times no one would hear anything about him for months at a time and fear him dead, but somehow Syl would find him located far away from the dangers in the area and he would always look great. Then out of nowhere in that unique Freddy style, last month he stopped by Sabi Sands before he left us for good, almost as if to say goodbye to the people that loved him the most....so rest well Freddy, you are home now. My man!! Or as they say in Afrikaans, rust in vrede

The Young Nkuhuma male, son of the two Southern Matimbas, usually called Junior. Look at how grown he is now. But of course, being alone, he will have a hard time.
