Huge, hopefully this marks the beginning of a resurgence in Gaur #s in Kaziranga Imagine an image of Gaur, Water Buffalo and Rhino in one shot! RE: Big herbivores! - Shardul - 03-03-2016 Hopefully. Their number has been very low for a long time, and this is the first instance of a Gaur image I've seen from Kaziranga. Unfortunately, Gaurs and Water buffaloes do not seem to get the kind of attention rhinos and elephants get. That's why no one talks about relocating them and reviving their populations even when they become locally extinct from certain areas. I find it surprising that even after a zillion cattle lifting cases, no one in India seems to realize that a 500 lb tiger needs large prey items. And India is home to 2 large wild bovine species. Why not revive their populations? Good for the buffalo and good for the tiger. RE: Big herbivores! - Pckts - 03-03-2016 I couldn't agree more .... They want to stop the cattle lifting than how about they give the predators their normal prey. RE: Big herbivores! - Shardul - 03-13-2016 *This image is copyright of its original author

RE: All about Gaur - brotherbear - 06-09-2016 Over on the 'Size Comparison' topic, I would love to see a realistic comparison of a bull gaur and a bull bison. I find the big bovines to be really interesting. RE: All about Gaur - Pckts - 06-09-2016 Not a Bison but gives you an idea *This image is copyright of its original author
