On tribute of the Caatinga biome day that was yesterday in April 28th I am gonna post The Blue Maccaw of Lear (Anodorhynchus leari), Its a rare endemic species unique from the brazilian Caatinga biome only found in northeast Brazil and it is endangered.

''It is also known as Macaw, Lesser Blue Macaw and Indigo Macaw in English, but its scientific name is Anodorhynchus leari. The bird is medium sized and can reach 75 cm in length. It has a blue color that changes tones throughout its body and a yellow ring around the eyes; the female and the male have no visual differences. It feeds mainly on the fruits of a palm tree called Licuri.

The main reason for its threat of extinction is the illegal trafficking of this bird species; besides the destruction of its natural habitat, which also affects its foraging areas, there are now only 1,000 specimens of this species in the wild.''
