RE: Amur tigers - peter - 11-09-2017 Interesting info, Wolverine. Could you post a copy in the tiger extinction thread? I thought I saw a bit of politics in your post. As animals should feature in this forum, I propose to keep posts, politicswise, as neutral as possible. That, however, doesn't mean we couldn't discuss politics. If interested, we could give it a try in the conservation section (in the thread 'Conservation, decisions and politics'). I do not like to talk about politics in an animal forum, but I am forced this time. Vldimir Putin really likes the tiger. This is a fact. Even Hillary Clinton related about it in her book " Hard choices : a memoir ". Putin is also doing good things to protect the polar bear and Lake Baikal, for example. Do you really believe that there are many western leaders who would order an alternative route of a pipeline just for ecological reasons ? I know that the West simply hates Russia, in general, and Putiin in particular, certainly because Russia is not an american poodle dog and has enormous natural resources that the West can not get them by force, like in Iraq and Libya : a war against the mighty russian power would mean the end of life on Earth. It is clear that Russia is doing a good job to save tigers. It is specially interesting that you, from Canada, a country that loves so much killing seals, do not want to recognize russian efforts to protect wildlife. If we still have wild tigers nowadays it is because India, Nepal, Bhutan and Russia protect them, despite the big pressure from poachers. I am absolutely convinced that in any western country ( and my country, Brazil, also belongs to West ) wild tigers would be already extinct or very near extinction. Do not forget that Great Britain committed crimes not only against India´s people but also against India´s wildlife: tigers ,specially, suffered, a lot: just look at the numbers before and after the british left India. By the way, try to visit Russia someday, specially St Petersburg, named the best tourist destination in Europe for the second time since 2015. RE: Amur tigers - sanjay - 11-13-2017 Please do not start war here. This is animal forum and not political platform. Please avoid personal attack. And talk in good way. RE: Amur tigers - Diamir2 - 12-29-2017 "We have not been telling the media about Vladik's life for a long time, first of all, because we were concerned about his safety. Maybe it is a bit of overstatement, but now, when he overcame the milestone, we can remove the veil of secrecy. During his long journey Vladik regularly hunted ungulate animals, and even Himalayan bears – there were three cases! He gave us quite a scare when he approached the village of Yasnoe near the airport. But the tiger made the right choice and found the right way, bypassing Vladivostok. The joint group even got to see the tiger, finding him with the help of the radio signal. Well, then he crossed the difficult barrier of the Trans-Siberian highway and Vladivostok-Khabarovsk highway and reached the south-west, thereby confirming the connection between two sections of the tiger range, proved in the middle of the twentieth century - Sikhote-Alin and the south-west of Primorye. Vladik looks healthy and well-fed. He showed a normal reaction to cars and humans. We still don’t know where the predator is heading but time will show," – Director General of the Amur Tiger Center Sergei Aramilev commented. http://amur-tiger.ru/en/press_center/news/915/ After exploring the south-west of Primorsky Krai and the Kedrovka river basin, Vladik the tiger made a 180 degree turn and went back to the central part of Sikhote-Alin. http://amur-tiger.ru/en/press_center/news/915/ RE: Amur tigers - KWildlife - 01-01-2018 The DPR Korean Data.
