RE: The Birmingham Males - Tshokwane - 11-12-2016

Male #4. He was with the Nkuhuma pride.

I'm going to theorize a bit with him here.

First of all it's clear he's also a very tolerant male with the kids, as his brothers. And they like him too in return, it's clear how they are drawn to him.

Second, the lionesses are less of bitches when #3 is not around, even coming to greet him with head rubs.

And third, his wound is healing just fine. For the future, remember this, particularly those who were whining about it.

Lions are tough. If they're not, it's because they're weak, and a weak lion is a dead end biologically.

@Majingilane: about your sentence:

"Lions are tough. If they're not, it's because they're weak, and a weak lion is a dead end biologically."

Well said !

Nonetheless, his wound was spectacular and above all very ugly. I'm happy for him.

For the last 2 days we experienced really cool weather...quite unusual for this time of the year. This morning it started drizzling and looks like it might continue for the rest of the day. Last night we had 2 of the Birmingham males on Nkorho again. Looked as if they were on a mission as they scent marked everywhere and we got the feeling that there might have been other Lions in the area. We heard constant roaring through out the night. Early this morning we got lucky in finding them just south of the lodge. Unfortunately they got up and crossed over our northern boundary just before our vehicles left the lodge. Later on we got the message that another Birmingham was feeding on a Buffalo kill just south from Nkorho. After a while he also followed his brothers to the north...
