RE: Other male lion coalitions from Masai Mara - BA0701 - 12-12-2024 (12-12-2024, 02:14 AM)adamstocks16 Wrote: @Mwarcaar that photo was taken not long before he disappeared, the male in the background was his new partner at the time known as Osahabu and I believe they held Sopa Pride for a while. It is such a shame, so many lions simply disappear in the Mara Triangle. The similarity in name with the Bermuda Triangle is not lost on me, where ships and planes have been known to simply disappear. So many legends gone, well before their time, with no word on the cause of their demise. It is what makes the long reign of legends like Lolparpit, Olbarnoti, and the Musketeers even more extraordinary and remarkable. Unfortunately that last video of him, I think July 2022, was never confirmed to be a rescent one. It was most likely old. You have to remember, besides the HWC, these lions, mostly all of them, venture outside the protected imaginary lines of the Reserve and Conservancies. There's no way to keep track of them and the huge Serenghetti is also directly connected to the Mara. Plus there's hills and mountains that these animals traverse and I don't believe any of these Safaris traverse up there. On a good note Mrefu was seen alone in Serenghetti again so he's still alive and looking good! ![]() *This image is copyright of its original author

Ironically the actual Mara Triangle is the safest, most well run part if the Reserve compared to the rest of the Mara and Conservancies. Look how long the Inselberg coalition has reined there without run-ins with herdsman. Also 6 Pack, for the most part, except for when they're in the Marsh, they rule in the most dangerous part of the Triangle and they've been able to keep safe from the spear. Can't say that for most inside the actual Reserve. Thank you, for clearing that up for me. RE: Other male lion coalitions from Masai Mara - adamstocks16 - 12-14-2024 Yeah @BA0701 it’s sad how we’ll never know what happened to the majority of the lions who disappeared in Mara. Two other examples of this are Red and Tatu, sons of the Musketeers who both disappeared around the conservancies near Lemek. I will never forget watching them both in the BBC Dynasties documentary, particularly the interaction where Tatu rushed to support Red against the clan of hyenas who were harassing him. Red disappeared first then Tatu unexpectedly showed up some time later with the old nomad Boxer Nose, who ironically was the original partner of Earless before he later joined up with Osahabu. I don’t think any of them were seen again after this. I very much recall the interaction you are referring to, with the hyenas. I have seen that video many times, but in all this time I never knew who those lions were. Amazing to find out they were sons of the Musketeers. RE: Other male lion coalitions from Masai Mara - adamstocks16 - 12-15-2024 @BA0701 yeah two oldest sons of Musketeers from when they ruled Marsh Pride, Red closely resembled Morani and Tatu looked like Sikio but possible sons of Scarface himself. Their mothers were also famous in their own right, Siena and Charm who interestingly were daughters of Notch and sisters to the Notch boys. They dispersed from the pride together shortly after filming for the series concluded and took over Lemek Pride from Barrikoi and Dere. Not sure exactly what happened but eventually they were driven out themselves and ended up in the conservancies were both likely fell victim to humans. Just heartbreaking to know that such things are happening in the Mara, so often. At one time, it was a real haven for wildlife, a true sanctuary. Jonathon Scot has been in the Mara since the 1970's and it hasn't changed since then, that's around 50 years. Crazy.
