Debatable, S.Avocas where starting to mess with terittorial males at 4.5 yrs of age and become territorial at around 5, outcompeting 3 Tsalalas.

PC males become territorial a bit earlier, near 4.5 yrs of age, but they become territorial on vacant territory, against no competition (demise of OM and later Styx helped).

They started pushing in western sector at around 5 yrs of age vs Tumbela, and took western sector defeating Nhenha/NK at near 5.5 yrs if age.

S.Avocas where "messing" with the "big boys" before PC males and had tougher road early on.

Not even that. They were around 4 years old when they challenged huge Matshipiri Males (one injured though).

If terms of size, yes, PCMs were impressive at an early age.

When PCMs were 4 years old, they were apprehensive hearing any roars coming from their Eastern side. Those likely coming out from the two veteran Birmingham Boys or may be from the two N. Avoca brothers. They once changed their course hearing the roars.

Now, S.Avocas @ 4..They were at a different level in terms of confidence. They were precocious. Not many in SS would match that, may be, Selatis but they were 4 of them. S. Avocas just 2.

Damn isn't that the same property talamati boys were on???

RE: Plains Camp males - Mapokser - 08-01-2023

The recent videos from the PCM show them bigger them ever, some recent videos from when Makhunga was feeding with 1/2 Ximhungwe shows how huge he is.

No other lion comes close to them in the reserve right now and Makhunga might be the biggest even if we include Manyeleti and Timbavati, he might also be one of the largest in the Sabi Sands ever. An absolute beast.

@Horizon yeah Avocas were pretty precocious, PCM are precocious too, maybe a bit more.

In the SS S.Avocas and Selatis might be the most precocious, though there's the Charlestons, Big Boy was bigger and was fighting evenly with prime Sand River male when he was only 3yo.

Similar to Mbiris, probably the most precocious in Africa, chasing and defeating multiple dominant coalitions 2v2 at only 3yo.

Aren't the Gijimas being seen with the Talamati girls lately?  That should be Londolozi or close, or meaning the Gijimas are crossing Londo right?

So then it's the girls crossing down territory?  According to your map the Talamati were a bit further north.  Interesting.

They are nomadic, they travel a lot, dots on map are just for number/ID pourposes mostly, circles are more accurate of pride movements.

Lately they are hanging in Londolozi and Sabi Sabi, before that they where in Singita and western sector.

These girls still need to settle.
