In my opinion these 2 guys are most unique looking lions in Kruger atm, and great warriors, hope they have or will have offspring somewhere.

Throwback to November 2017 the two huge Ngotso males "Vuku and Blondie" had already invaded the territory of the three old Roodeplaat/Roodewal males constantly challenging them, and the determination of this duo was such that by the middle of the following year (2018) they had finished off the three old males and had taken over with part of the local pride!

Vurhamis vs Mjejane again...
All pics are Vurhami, but last two are Mjejane Male.
This morning we heard lions roaring on the river. You could hear it was only one call, so it couldn't be the pride. As we got onto the river road, we found the 2 young Vurhami males. They seemed very nervous and then we heard the roar from across the river, there he was the mighty Mjejane male.
The bigger Vurhami male went closer to the river to see where the call was coming from. When he realized it was only one Mjejane male, he also started roaring. Infuriated the Mjejane male paced up and down the river, at a later stage he went further into bush and we could still hear him, possibly calling his brothers.
The two Vurhami boys better watch their backs and make sure they have their running shoes on for when the Mjejane males arrive on Mjejane.

Mjejanes are lately further west, around s114, so it looks like Vurhamis gain confidence again moving into Mjejane Reserve..
Also its good to see they have confidence, and are not affraid of 1 Mjejane Male, bigger Vurhami male Mo is also becoming absolute beast and is big as those Mjejane guys.. But that lump on his brother is quite worrying..
I know you say that they might treat him, but wouldn't sedating him be quite risky for nomadic male and his partner in "enemy" territory?
I mean when he is being treated, his brother will be alone and might get caught,he might vocalise in search for his brother, and he might get exposed or just move off..
Quite a risky move to do this in this situation..

Yeah, I’m not sure what they will do now this guy has returned they may wait to see how this plays out. Yeah it’s risky but they normally keep an eye on the treated persons partner and return the guy to his partner after in cases but idk sedation/Mjejane males, a lot can go wrong, nervous for them.

Dont know, but those kind of lumps occure from some sort of injury/tear in muscle near that area (might be visiable injury like deep cut/bite, or internal from some sort of kick or something).
Its very dangerous and lifethreatning when its that big so i hope he gets threated..

That right after we are not sure if all the 4 were killed by Mjejene males but yes they are just 2 now, nomads life add to that inexperiance and you have that, sad but that who wild work...

What a sighting! Mo (the bigger Vurhami male) is looking in amazing condition, he's almost big as the Mjejane males. I'm very concerned for his brother. He isn't looking on the best condition ever and possibly could be easy caught for the Mjejane
