The river pride has done an excellent job raising their young since they were abandoned by Skorokoro and they suffer from the constant threat of prides and rival males like the Skorro males at first. RE: Nharhu Male Lions - Cath2020 - 12-05-2022 I think there are at least 5 subs in the Timbavati River Pride. 2 females and 3 males. One of the females is nearly 3 and was seen mating not too long ago. It's pretty early on for a lioness to mate! She is the one the guides call, 'Princess,' the lone survivor of the firstborn set of cubs. The others died of some muscle disease? Wonder if her own mother is in heat yet? Or is it delayed because they are in hiding? The others are coming of age and will turn 2 soon, so the lionesses might soon go into heat. RE: Nharhu Male Lions - Gavskrr - 12-05-2022 I think the females have been avoiding this so as not to draw too much attention, the subs are still too young to become nomads and they have been doing a great job, with the lion population in timbavati so big, lately they have been going unnoticed all this time RE: Nharhu Male Lions - BigLion39 - 12-05-2022 Skorrokorro is not with the River Pride anymore? Where has he been seen in the most rescent sightings? RE: Nharhu Male Lions - Tr1x24 - 12-05-2022 (12-05-2022, 12:12 PM)BigLion39 Wrote: Skorrokorro is not with the River Pride anymore? RE: Nharhu Male Lions - criollo2mil - 12-05-2022 “"Big Red", Timbavati Private Reserve, South Africa, Nov 2022 - We regularly found the Western Pride at Voyboom Dam. Perhaps part of the reason is that one of the lioness' had very young cubs hidden in the rocks near there. The dominant male of the pride is this beautiful red mane lion. I nicknamed him "Big Red", though I need to find out what his actual name is. (I'm sure Andries Mbanyise, Jan Wilkens or Patrick can help me with that). Later in our safari, I learned he is not only the leader of the Western Pride but also the male leader of the River Pride. Double duty must keep this guy busy! He has a limp due to an old hip injury, but it does not appear to hinder his hunting or fathering skills. Loved this cat. “ RE: Nharhu Male Lions - lionuk - 12-07-2022 Skorokoro and the River pride at Simbavati. He still visits them. RE: Nharhu Male Lions - DARK MANE - 01-21-2023 New cubs of Scorocoro (in Western pride) with their mother. Hopefully 5 vuyela males, 6 Birmingham breakaway, 3 river pride subadults will do their things and restrict themselves in northern and central timbavati. RE: Nharhu Male Lions - Tr1x24 - 03-25-2023 Impressive Skorokoro : Truly remarkable how he still trives despite his leg injury and despite losing his 2 brothers around 2 years ago. Most people (including myself) write him off after Xitaya's death and Skorro takeover, but its more to this guy then we taught. Shame for Mpohlos disease, if not had been, 3 Nharhus would still prob be most powerful coalition in Timbavati.
