Brother....
I mean .... SERIOUSLY ???
See, being optimistic is a good thing. One should always be.
But sometimes it's too......
Ok let it be .
PEACE

Of course, I will give him another month. And I already let him go.
I've seen lions come back after months of given for dead. Since what's recorded on video is a small fraction of their day, I will give him or any other lion a little longer.

I was told guides, rangers and lodges already have the understanding that he is gone, everything considered.

Not sure if it's true but it's pretty reasonable to assume he is dead by this point.

Yeah, I think is more likely that he's dead.
However, until there is confirmation, I personally give him a small percentage of being alive for another month.

It looks like they've finally announced that Nhenha is gone.  I saw that a guide named Neil  finally officially put out that the Birmingham males are all gone now.

End of an era, and I provide my condolences and hat tip.

Yeah.  He’s the first I’ve seen from a reserve official to make a proper acknowledgement of what we all believed was the case.   He’s was a legend I will not soon forget.

Here is said post

“People will always have opinions on individual Lions- one thing you can’t fault is a warrior and a legend that lived!

RIP to the last remaining Birmingham Male”

RE: The Birmingham Males - DARK MANE - 03-28-2023

When he first entered the Sabi Sands, he was nothing but a young male lion. Now he left as a legend of the Sands - Farewell Nhenha

It’s been two months now without any sighting of the last of the old Birmingham male lions and with it the realization is sinking in that his long and successful journey has come to an end. At the beginning of January he had sustained severe injuries resulting from a heavy fight with the two Plains Camp male lions. Three weeks later when he was seen for the last time his condition hadn’t improved much, only kept on his paws by what seems sheer willpower. So with two whole months having passed by without any sign of life it now feels the right time to say goodbye.

The Birmingham male lions have shaped an era in the Sabi Sands which they’ve called their home for the last seven years. And so we pay tribute to one of the greatest male lion coalitions that has earned it’s rightful place in the rich history of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve alongside it’s famous predecessors, the Mapogos, the Majingilane and the Matimbas.

As the sole survivor of the coalition Nhenha took a special place among the five males. Considered to be the biggest one, equipped with an aura of unbroken authority and sovereignty, it wasn’t that much of a surprise that he would end up surviving the longest. After the death of Tinyo somewhere between November and December 2021 Nhenha proved his survival skills by joining forces with one of his sons, the Nkuhuma male, to beat the odds for another whole year.

Unfortunately that very same Nkuhuma male didn’t stand by his side when the fight with the Plains Camp males erupted and so the old veteran had to stood up one last time to hold his ground, to fight with all and everything that was left in him. An honorable end that fits the life of a lion. With the sword in your hand and courage in your heart. A lion heart.

RIP Great king.
Keep blessings your Torchwood male, Nkuhuma male and kambula males.

You will never be forgotten.

Actually Nym did fight that day as he was seen with wounds afterwards. The two were likely just ambushed and by the time the element of surprise wore off it was already to late for Nhenha.

Anyway. Its always sad to see lions go. Especially for those that have been following all those years. But I am glad he is getting atleast somesort of official sendoff. Rather than just disapearing suddenly from the records.

RIP to nhenha BUT it is said the Birmingham coalition had 9 daughters in the torchwood pride and the recent sightings of the pride and number of females don’t match so could they have made a breakaway pride?

They had 6/7 daughters in Torchwood pride.

Yea, very likely rest of Torchwood females are east in Kruger.

R.I.P. big guy. None of the males I started following are alive anymore(Mapogos, Majins, Birminghams) so it's sad, but it was a pleasure following their amazing lives and I'll never forget them.
