RE: Avoca Male Lions and Their Male Lineage - Duco Ndona - 09-28-2024 I guess this is why most organisations rely on numbers rather than names to track animals. People can complain all they want, but unless someone comes up with an actual name that is universally accepted for him, Nym it is. And lets be honest here. Most of the names are unoriginal, duplicated and can be argued over in a similar maner. Mohawk is not more official than any other name and will not make sense once he loses his mane either. Not to mention that the whole Pride young Gender naming sceme is a recipe for confusion to begin with if strictly followed. So lets not overthink it. Aslong we know which lion is being referred too its fine and the new Nyms will get their own nicknames eventually. Its not like the animals use names themselves and are are out there feeling insulted if we name them Mr biggles or Snowball or something. RE: Avoca Male Lions and Their Male Lineage - Ttimemarti - 09-28-2024 My friend he is the nkuhuma male I don’t think I’ve ever seen him being called the nym plus I think he’s 8 years old or 7 years old very far from young but then we’ve got the 2021 avoca son I think we should try to refer to him as the nkuhuma young male since he is the only nkuhuma young male not to confuse him with the older nkuhuma male or the nkuhuma breakaway young male but honestly idk I’ve never gotten any of these guys confused one is older one is younger and the other two are in a coalition of 2 maybe 3 but the Mohawk think idk I’ve been calling him Mohawk for so long and literally everyone on this website has people in manyleti and northern sabi sands also call him that so that’ll be his name or northern avoca male since he is the last one either is fine RE: Avoca Male Lions and Their Male Lineage - KM600 - 09-28-2024 (09-28-2024, 02:22 AM)Ngonya Wrote: 1/2 Nkuhuma males at KNP, this is the blonder maned male. They are both looking quite impressive, anyone knows what area Themba roams so we can have an idea where the boys are? I’m not sure where this was taken but the video is at Skukuza and really recent too. The guides of the reserve he settled down in named him Mohawk. It doesn't get more official than that. And if you are going to insist on calling the Nkuhuma male Nym (I can't tell you to do otherwise), then please differentiate between 'Nym' and 'NYM' - one is a 'word', the other is an acronym. You wouldn't call the US space program Nasa or the secret service Cia. RE: Avoca Male Lions and Their Male Lineage - GhostCatP-22 - 09-29-2024 Wow, sorry I started up with names! I was just making an observation that he’s generally known as N.Y.M. Aka Nkuhuma young male on our forum. Yes he’s not the only Nkuhuma male anymore and he’s not young. NYM (homonym, synonym etc) is also a Greek root word. I just thought the coincidence was cool. Please drop and move on please. It’s all good but I too just wanted to try and clarify who is who since others outside of the website may not know and may get confused RE: Avoca Male Lions and Their Male Lineage - Ngonya - 09-29-2024 (09-29-2024, 12:24 AM)GhostCatP-22 Wrote: He was shown earlier alone, is his brother there just not in the picture?a sight of his blondier brother yesterday at Skukuza was said that they were near by. If you're gonna call people out, but then don't like when they reply to defend their point, then maybe don't call them out. But yeah, whatever. It's dropped. RE: Avoca Male Lions and Their Male Lineage - NLAL11 - 09-29-2024 A brief history of the Southern Avoca male (and his brother). The blog intimates that the other brother died fighting the two Leeubron males over the Hamilton pride. https://blog.londolozi.com/2024/09/24/the-southern-avoca-male/ *This image is copyright of its original author

I tought the Hamilton Pride was quite far from where they S.Avocas used to be, guess I was wrong Are we able to close the case on what happend to the S.Avoca Male now? If they knew it all along how come we only finding it out now Anyway I wish he sticks with Kruger Male Maybe not to take over any pride ( maybe if they find a vacant pride and are able to do what S.Matimbas did) but more to just protect each other RE: Avoca Male Lions and Their Male Lineage - KM600 - 09-29-2024 (09-29-2024, 03:44 PM)NLAL11 Wrote: A brief history of the Southern Avoca male (and his brother). The blog intimates that the other brother died fighting the two Leeubron males over the Hamilton pride. I can’t say I generally like when blogs do this, they don’t have real definitive evidence that the bigger maned S.Avoca died fighting the Leeubron males, yet speak on it as it’s certain. Nonetheless, I have been thinking the same for a while now and even mentioned before how I really doubted the Nkhulus were behind it. Reason for this being, there was no change in behaviour from them, it ended up taking them a while to become fully dominant over the Sand River Pride. Even the remaining S.Avoca was spending some time with that pride after returning from KNP, and was mentioned in a MalaMala report with them. Now, the Nkhulus knew they were facing a coalition of 2 and if they were the ones to kill bigger maned S.Avoca, it made no sense why the takeover was longer than expected, although I’m sure the pride was constantly running from them too. It was almost like they were just as surprised to find the pride now vacant. |
