RE: Jaguar Directory - Balam - 06-25-2023 @Ngonya Xingu is bigger than Bagua. I think Xingu might be around 130 kg and Bagua around 100-110 kg. RE: Jaguar Directory - Ngonya - 08-01-2023 Cuachicqueh Coalition "These are Xingú and Baguá, two males that have been impressing travelers, researchers and conservationists in Porto Jofre! It is one of the first records among jaguars where 2 males formed a coalition! They realized that unity is strength. For a long time it was thought that jaguars were solitary animals, intolerant of the presence of other jaguars, especially when we are talking about males! It was not imagined that 2 males could unite in cooperation: and this coalition has lasted for years! This shows the knowledge gaps and how much we need to learn from nature!" posted june 16 Xingu *This image is copyright of its original author PC: Marcelo SamucaBagua *This image is copyright of its original author PC: Javier Hausdorf

"A male coalition. An unlikely friendship between these 2 unrelated males. What a force they are together." RE: Jaguar Directory - Ngonya - 08-11-2023 PAMPA
"The Pampas are fertile South American low grasslands that cover more than 1,200,000 square kilometres and include the Argentine provinces of Buenos Aires, La Pampa, Santa Fé, Entre Ríos, and Córdoba; all of Uruguay; and Brazil's southernmost state, Rio Grande do Sul".*This image is copyright of its original author 1952, Male jaguar skin and skull in São Lourenço (Southern Brazil) Said to be a "young" male, the jaguar killed some "pigs" of a property and because of that he was shot. Even after being shot he was still able to walk for around 1 kilometer and died with a dog on its mouth. According to the hunters, it was an male weighing impressive: 86 kg After this slaughter, the presence of jaguars was never reported in the Pampa gaúcho. *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author Pictures by: Fábio Mazim
RE: Jaguar Directory - Balam - 08-11-2023 @Ngonya excellent find on the Pampas jaguar! An enigmatic extinct population. You will love this, looks like we have a potential new coalition brewing in Porto Jofre: Rio and Manath *This image is copyright of its original author Rio is the son of Medrosa and Manath the son of Jaju, both are from their last litters from 2021 and 2022! Medrosa and Jaju are sisters.Manath is a massive jaguar for his age, I believe Bernard may be his father because they look extremely similar. Manath is actually younger than Rio but you can already see how much bigger he is. Hopefully they stick together. Also, do u know if i can create a topic myself for the pampa jaguars? even if i dont have much stuff to be posted RE: Jaguar Directory - Balam - 08-11-2023 @Ngonya absolutely! Please make the topic, you can ask a mod like Sanjay to move the post you made here to that topic. I may have some information to share on it as well. RE: Jaguar Directory - Balam - 08-14-2023 @Ngonya Rio and Manath patrolling together! If they end up solidifying this coalition we will approach the Jaguar ID to name it, so start thinking of names to suggest, I already have mine. *This image is copyright of its original author
