The average leopard will weigh little more than 100 lb. , or one - fifth of the weight of a lion . The Game Warden once shot one of 130 lb. and has seen a magnificent skin of one that weighed 150 . It is fortunate that the leopard is

From what I have searched, many male Leopards that are 50+ kg are going to be 2.1 + meters in total length.

There are a few exceptions, but this is just a general rule of thumb.

African Leopards

The 62 kg Leopard is 227 cm long, or 2.27 meters in total length.

A 56 kg male was 228 centimeters long, or 2.28 meters in total length.

Indian Leopards

A 3 year old male Leopard that was 50 kg and 210 cm in total length or 2.10 meters. The  63 kg Leopard that is also 227 cm, or total length of 2.27 meters.

Weight range of Javan leopards

3 captive and 1 wild Javan leopard were used in a study. The weight range was 37kg-50kg:

Arabian leopard weights according to Cat News. In one part of the Arabian leopard’s range (likely Oman), male leopards weighed 32-40kg. In a different area however, a male leopard of 50kg was killed. There have been some rumors lately of Arabian leopards being the same size as clouded leopards. Yet the reality is that the largest clouded leopard ever to be recorded from any part of its range (25kg) is the same weight of the smallest male Arabian leopard that has ever been weighed, though still it wouldn’t be the larger animal. Arabian leopards are longer, taller and have larger skulls. They are likely only slightly smaller than African leopards in height and length. The real reason why they seem to be lightweight however is because of how skinny they are. They lack almost any large prey, and as you can see in the 1st screenshot the only female that had a more normal weight was one that fed on garbage. This same issue goes on to say how the females in this area weighed 25-26 kilograms, heavier, and likely longer and taller than any male clouded leopard that has ever been weighed. Not to mention both male and female Arabian leopards have larger skulls than male Sunda clouded leopards.

Anyways though, Arabian leopards arent the smallest leopards. We cannot consider them to be as small in height or length as cape or Somali leopards (who are still superior to clouded leopards in size ofc) because they have longer skulls, and well fed adult individuals would weigh the same as a small male African leopard. Imo, a male Arabian leopard isn’t any smaller than a male Zambian leopard from luangwa. The only small individuals I’ve seen in other studies could’ve been old, sick, extremely malnourished, etc. Every other leopard in those studies seem to be around the 30-40kg size range, which again, would be explained by almost every population having no prey to the point where certain individuals are living off of garbage.

Please keep in mind that I am not trying to make Arabian leopards larger. This was merely my take on what they should be compared to, in terms of size and strength.

  • Persian leopards from South Caucasus (5): 237.1 mm x 152.7 mm
  • Persian leopards from Turkmenistan (5): 217.3 mm x 143.1 mm
  • Persian leopard from Northern Iran (1): 225.1 mm x 139.5 mm
  • Persian leopards from Southern Iran (2): 227.9 mm x 144.4 mm
  • Persian leopards from Southern Pakistan (3): 212.0 mm x 134.4 mm
  • Persian leopards from South-western Turkey (2): 212.9 mm x 138.9 mm
  • Indian leopard from Kashmir (1): 207.8 mm x 135.9 mm
  • Arabian leopard from Sinai (1): 194.0 mm x 127.4 mm
  • Arabian leopard from Arabian Peninsula (1): 164.1 mm x 105.5 mm
From Taxonomic status of the leopard, Panthera pardus (Carnivora, Felidae) in the Caucasus and adjacent areas (link)

The largest skulls are from the South Caucasus.

If this is the case, then the largest Leopards are still living in that region.

The South Caucasus includes Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
