RE: Plains Camp males - Mapokser - 04-10-2023

@Tr1x24 I didn't mean PCM would have a worse time defending their territory, but rather in raising offspring. Because in a smaller territory with less prides they'd chase male and female rivals, allowing them to properly protect their prides and cubs.

But in the current scenario, they aren't able to defend any prides.

If they go to Singita, NK, Tumbela and maybe Talamatis can kill their Ximhungwe and NK Breakaway cubs. If they go west their huge border in Singita will be undefended and other coalitions in the future coming from the east and north would be a threat to the future Mangheni cubs.

They may remain in power for a long time, but it'll be difficult for them to raise any offspring unless they give up some land and prides.

Majingilanes were 4, they could afford to keep the west clean of rivals while also keeping an eye on their borders at Singita so nobody would attack the Manghenis. PCM can't do that, males roam free in the west because they don't have time to hunt them down properly and keep them away from the prides. And Singita is big and wide open, we've already seen BDM, Imbali and Kambulas roam there, not to mention NK who's always crossing that area to leave or return.

Back with the Ximhungwe lionesses. Will be interesting to see what the three (3) Talamati's do now that he's no longer with them. Also, has anyone seen or heard anything on the other one? Don't recall seeing him since the sighting I posted about on the 5th.

The other one was with his brother a few days ago, but they are split now.

PC males at Leopard Hills. Tracks of a single lion were found heading out of the area once they showed up. According to Stuart, the Othawa girls are safe. Tracks could possibly be from the Tumbela male leaving the area.

I hope they're heading back to Singita, it's past time these guys return there to patrol and protect their new offspring.

PC males still in the west, one was mating with Gingerella and the other was said to be thirty (30) meters away from them. Really starting to doubt they'll bother to go back to Singita anytime soon on a count of the mating opportunities that still exist with the Ximhungwes, which doesn't bode well for the Mangheni cubs.

I agree, and worse thing about this is that Manghenis have a nomadic reputation, I'm afraid they may feel their males abandoned them or died which may influentiate how they move, affecting the cubs.

Like, when was the last time they were seen with them in Singita? Maybe more than a month ago?

RE: Plains Camp males - Duco Ndona - 04-30-2023

The issue is that while nothing is happening in Singita, the west is where their biggest problems live. So that is where they are.

Unless they become a more proactive and remove Skorro and Nym permanently from the area.
This will likely continue and its sad that it now is also putting the Mhangeni at risk.

Lets hope no issues arize in the mean time.

A month or more sounds about right. The last a count I have of them being together with the Manghenis was sometime in early March, everything else I've seen has been with the Ximhungwes and the short stint they had with the three (3) Talamati females not long ago.

RE: Plains Camp males - Tr1x24 - 04-30-2023

Mhangenis where denning, so obiviously they where not with them as much, yet with females who are open for mating atm, Ximhungwes.

We dont follow PC males 24/7, just because we didnt see it, it doesnt mean they didnt patrol their eastern boundary or visited Mhangenis recently.
