I had hypothesized some time ago that the jaguars from this area could likely be among the largest since the ecoregion itself is very similar to the Orinoco Llanos and the Pantanal. It consists of seasonally flooded grasslands with large concentrations of capybara, caiman (including black caiman), deer, etc. It is considered part of the greater Amazon basin but it is not part of the forest itself. It is the third-largest floodplain in South America and one of the least studied, documented, and more remote areas, where finding footage of jaguars is extremely rare: *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author These were recorded in the Chuchuni reserve in Trinidad, Beni department. Just as I thought, these jaguars are massive: *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author By Chuchuni Amazon Jungle Eco Tours @peter we had a discussion some time ago about which part of the Amazon could likely house the greatest jaguars, I believe this is it. This area is so understudied that this very rare footage is the best we can get at the moment.
