RE: Forest Rangers, Trackers, Guides & Other Personnel - Spalea - 06-25-2020 Dereck Joubert: " As we celebrate fathers and the vital role they play on this special day, we also salute the rangers and their families who sacrifice so much to protect wildlife and wild spaces. Their work is especially vital during this challenging time, just as current restrictions on travel and tourism put their livelihoods at risk. This Father’s Day, please consider supporting the wildlife heroes on the frontlines of conservation. Our #ProjectRanger initiative was created to provide much-needed support to rangers across Africa. Follow the link in the bio to find out more. #Repost @greatplainsfoundation ・・・ Few conservationists have more passion than Poster Malongwa. Under his leadership the #RhinosWithoutBorders team of wildlife monitors ensure that Botswana's wild rhinos have a chance at a future. For Poster, these horned creatures are like his children and he cares for them as though they were his own. But current restrictions on travel and tourism continue to put strain on the vital funding that keeps conservation initiaves alive, putting the livelihoods of Poster and dedicated rangers just like him under threat. With Father's Day just around the corner, please consider giving your dad a gift that that can truly make a difference this year. Our #ProjectRanger initiative was created to provide much-needed support to rangers across Africa who face potential unemployment as a result of COVID-19. Without these men and women on the frontlines of conservation, wild species are at much greater risk. Let's protect the protectors. More than 95% of Kaziranga is under water. But, my utmost respect to all the wildlife officials who are engaged in getting the animals to safety of Karbi Anglong hills. More than 100 animals have been saved including 3 tigers and a few rhinos. About 60 animals have died including 1 rhino, though majority of them being hog deer. With much of the tourism industry at a standstill, wild spaces and species are left in a vulnerable state as those tasked with protecting them face financial uncertainty. Our #ProjectRanger initiative was created to provide vital support for the men and women working on the frontlines of conservation. We cannot afford to be without dedicated rangers and wildlife personnel on the ground. The work of these wildlife warriors is critical if we are to have any hope of safeguarding threatened species. By contributing to this initiative, you can be a part of the solution. Sponsor a Ranger. Stop a Poacher. Save a Species. Follow the link in the bio to find out more. " RE: Forest Rangers, Trackers, Guides & Other Personnel - Rishi - 07-30-2020 International Tiger Day 2020 special... RE: Forest Rangers, Trackers, Guides & Other Personnel - Rishi - 07-31-2020 RE: Forest Rangers, Trackers, Guides & Other Personnel - Spalea - 08-01-2020 Dereck Joubert: " July 31 marks a date on our calendars reserved for giving special recognition to the men and women who take on the difficult, gruelling and often dangerous work of protecting our common heritage: the precious wildlife and wild spaces that still remain on this planet. #WorldRangerDay is a time to express our admiration, to show our gratitude and a time to remember those killed or injured in the line of duty. But to truly stand with rangers, we need to support them on all the other days of the year – days spent patrolling remote and often inhospitable landscapes, making do with meagre resources and bravely facing the many dangers to be found on the frontlines of conservation. At a time when their work has become more challenging than ever, you can help to provide the support rangers so desperately need. Follow the link in the bio to find out how. " RE: Forest Rangers, Trackers, Guides & Other Personnel - Spalea - 09-18-2020 Dereck Joubert: " We’re very excited that our #ProjectRanger initiative is joining forces with the Wildlife Ranger Challenge to amplify our efforts to support those on the frontlines of conservation. At a time when the work of rangers across Africa has become more challenging than ever, we hope to make a real difference to their lives and livelihoods. The Wildlife Ranger Challenge is a continent-wide event with the ultimate goal of keeping rangers in the field and alleviating some of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, allowing rangers to continue protecting endangered species and habitats. The challenge will culminate in an exciting ranger marathon in October – and there are many ways to get involved in the run-up and the main event. Project Ranger and the Wildlife Ranger Challenge will match any contributions, dollar for dollar, to approved projects focused on field ranger operations. " RE: Forest Rangers, Trackers, Guides & Other Personnel - Spalea - 09-22-2020 Pierre Jonqueres: " Because today is World Rhino Day 2020, we must not forget Guards, Rangers, Conservationists, all these people who dedicate their lives to protect them. It must be their World Day as well. " David Yarrow: " To mark world rhino day, here is a photograph I took in Lewa, Kenya last month in a collaboration with @tusk_org and the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (@lewa_wildlife). Meet Sonia the black rhino, and her protector Corporal Manase Muriju from Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. Unlike other black rhinos, which normally love hidden or solitary environments, Sonia likes to stay out in the open. You can often find her in the open grasslands near Lewa HQ. When Sonia was born in 1991 only 16 rhinos lived at Lewa. Today, thanks to the work and passions of those like Manase and Edward, 181 rhinos call the conservancy home. Sonia herself has a living lineage of 10 individuals. Two of Sonia’s calves have translocated to the Sera Wildlife Conservancy (the first community conservancy to protect rhino) and Borana Wildlife Conservancy, highlighting Lewa’s role in catalysing the formation of other vital rhino sanctuaries. You can support the work of those who protect rhino and many other threatened species across Africa by taking part in The #wildliferangerchallenge on October 3rd. Find out more via the link in @tusk_org bio. Lewa conservancy remains a paragon in global conservation efforts. The rhino population has increased over 10x from a standing start in 1990. In the last 6 years there has only been one poaching. I am in awe of @tusk_org and the Craig and Dyer Families. " |
