Few conservationists have more passion than Poster Malongwa. Under his leadership the #RhinosWithoutBorders team of wildlife monitors ensure that Botswana's wild rhinos have a chance at a future. For Poster, these horned creatures are like his children and he cares for them as though they were his own. But current restrictions on travel and tourism continue to put strain on the vital funding that keeps conservation initiaves alive, putting the livelihoods of Poster and dedicated rangers just like him under threat.
With Father's Day just around the corner, please consider giving your dad a gift that that can truly make a difference this year. It’s flood time in Assam and Kaziranga has been hit badly this year. More than 95% of Kaziranga is under water.
But, my utmost respect to all the wildlife officials who are engaged in getting the animals to safety of Karbi Anglong hills. More than 100 animals have been saved including 3 tigers and a few rhinos. About 60 animals have died including 1 rhino, though majority of them being hog deer.

Dereck Joubert: " We’re very excited that our #ProjectRanger initiative is joining forces with the Wildlife Ranger Challenge to amplify our efforts to support those on the frontlines of conservation. At a time when the work of rangers across Africa has become more challenging than ever, we hope to make a real difference to their lives and livelihoods.
The Wildlife Ranger Challenge is a continent-wide event with the ultimate goal of keeping rangers in the field and alleviating some of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, allowing rangers to continue protecting endangered species and habitats. The challenge will culminate in an exciting ranger marathon in October – and there are many ways to get involved in the run-up and the main event.
Project Ranger and the Wildlife Ranger Challenge will match any contributions, dollar for dollar, to approved projects focused on field ranger operations.

David Yarrow: " To mark world rhino day, here is a photograph I took in Lewa, Kenya last month in a collaboration with @tusk_org and the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (@lewa_wildlife).
Meet Sonia the black rhino, and her protector Corporal Manase Muriju from Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.
Unlike other black rhinos, which normally love hidden or solitary environments, Sonia likes to stay out in the open. You can often find her in the open grasslands near Lewa HQ.
When Sonia was born in 1991 only 16 rhinos lived at Lewa.
Today, thanks to the work and passions of those like Manase and Edward, 181 rhinos call the conservancy home. Sonia herself has a living lineage of 10 individuals.
Two of Sonia’s calves have translocated to the Sera Wildlife Conservancy (the first community conservancy to protect rhino) and Borana Wildlife Conservancy, highlighting Lewa’s role in catalysing the formation of other vital rhino sanctuaries.

Lewa conservancy remains a paragon in global conservation efforts. The rhino population has increased over 10x from a standing start in 1990. In the last 6 years there has only been one poaching. I am in awe of @tusk_org and the Craig and Dyer Families. "
