RE: The Mighty Mapogos - Delyrium - 03-13-2025

@BA0701
Thank you very much for the welcome.

@Mapokser
I see, it was a different time back then, no need for names when some physical identifier was enough to track them when needed. That kind of decisions is what add to the Mapogo Mythology,

@KM600
That's a nice tidbit. These Rollercoaster/Shaw Males are the half-bros of the Mapogos, or believed to be, right?? reading about it seems things were somewhat more compact in territory back then, or there was more Lion population. Both sets of WSM sons conquered the Sparta pride at some point.

Totally agree with you about Makhulu, rather than rule as a lone King he went with his half-bros to become legends.

RE: The Mighty Mapogos - Mapokser - 03-13-2025

Rather than different times it was just that MalaMala doesn't like to give lion names. They didn't called the Mapogo by their names either.

But yeah the Rollercoaster were half-brothers of the Mapogo, ɓorn in the Charleston pride.

Fourways did adopt 2 unknown males at that time (Blondie Fourways/Phabeni and his bro who got killed by S.Matimbas in 2014) but really doubt these 2 are Ximhungwes, as these 2 looked a bit older then these 2 Ximhungwes on the video.

We would need good pictures to confirm that.

This is the best picture I could find of 1/2 Ximhungwe males, do you find any resemblance with the 2 unkown fourways males?

These 2 where seen with 3-4 sisters in 2012 around Nkorho (i posted photos here, but who knows where that is now).

They where new in the area and came from the north/east, its believed these young females become Torchwood pride, but from where they came its unknown.

RE: The Mighty Mapogos - FACR2212 - 04-07-2025

The male killed by Matimbas was bigger in mid 2012, no doubt, and whisker pattern doesn't match either. Was Blondie younger than him?

That youtube account is claiming as a fact that both fourways are Mapogo sons, without showing evidence...

Not sure, as we have no info about them before 2012.

Watching Blondie now on those photos, quite remarkable he was still alive last year, legendary lion.

The loss of Rasta was a really big blow, just as the loss of KT was even bigger, but, I still believe that the loss of Dreadlocks, to poachers, was the biggest loss to the 6 Mapogos. They had been able to regroup and recover from all of the others, and Dreadlocks played a big role in that. Once Dreadlocks was killed, the end of the Mapogo reign came relatively quickly afterwards.

Yeah, they were still the strongest coalition around before Dreadlocks died, though even before his death, they had already given up on their entire north and east territory, accepting the Majingilane rule, which came with Rasta's death and PB's injuries. Even after PB very quickly full recovery, they never attempted to challenge Majingilane for Londolozi, Northern Sector or MalaMala. I think, however, that if Mr.T had not killed the Ximungwe cubs, bringing the females back to estrus, there might have been a chance for them to make another move against Majingilane.

Still, technically speaking, Dreadlocks wasn't poached, to say he was poached would be to say someone illegally sneaked into the reserve and shot him, but he was killed outside Sabi Sands and the demand to kill him instead of allowing him to get darted and brought back, came from leaders of some local tribes.

But anyway, back to the dynamics, lion strategy or whatever, one should give full credit to Majingilane, I'm sure luck always plays its role, but the bond, intelligence, coordination and teamplay of the Majingis was out of this world, they had competition and clashes with coalitions of 6 ( Mapogo, Matimba ), 5 ( Bboys ), 4 ( Selati ), 3 ( Sand Rivers ) and never lost any members, hell, no member has even been seriously injured, their only lost ever was that of 5th in their first territorial challenge, after that they went into an insane spree off successfully competing with other males.

So basically you saying that two Majingis killed Rasta and badly injured PB? As you stated there is no injuries on other two Majingis. This seems highly unlikely scenario to me.

@Spaske

You made new thread for your "PB vs Selati" post, which is unnecessary, as that post and question belongs to this thread.

I cant move that post here as its only post on that thread, so you should repost it here again.

Unnecessary thread you made will be deleted.

Cheers.

I didn't say that.

4 Selatis killed Mr.T and only one had very noticeable injuries. Just because only 2 were seen with some injuries doesn't mean they were the only ones involved.
