RE: Avoca male lions - BA0701 - 05-02-2024 (05-02-2024, 11:11 PM)Mapokser Wrote: The S.Avoca if lucky, will find Tumbela/NK and join them. Yes, I am very happy to see the turn S Avoca is taking recently. As we've seen, he is not adverse to sharing a meal with other males, so we'll keep our fingers crossed. As for Mohawk, yes, he did not look great in that most recent image, but as we all know, he is exceptionally tough, and can, hopefully recover just as quickly. We do not know the reason for his seeming separation from his sons, I just hope they are all well, and if they are, that they can all meet back up with Mohawk. He really needs some support right now. In light of recent Nkhuma news, something happening to all the boys would be devastating news to deal with. RE: Avoca male lions - T_Ferguson - 05-12-2024 Anybody know what that lump on his side is? Otherwise, he looks pretty good for an older fella. RE: Avoca male lions - Duco Ndona - 05-12-2024 Hard to tell. Perhaps an infection. So happy to see this boy in better shape RE: Avoca male lions - T_Ferguson - 05-16-2024 YAY!!! Mohawk found his boys!!! I hope this is a new sighting anyway. Wesley saw them yesterday night in an impala kill, still in their concession. RE: Avoca male lions - afortich - 05-16-2024 (05-16-2024, 01:29 AM)T_Ferguson Wrote: YAY!!! Mohawk found his boys!!! I hope this is a new sighting anyway. Glad they’ve been spotted looking well even if they still in KNP. Does leave me wondering who guides believed they spotted, however. RE: Avoca male lions - NLAL11 - 05-17-2024 Mala Mala Game Report April 2024 https://malamala.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/4.-MALAMALA-GAME-RESERVE-GAME-REPORT-April-2024-LD.pdf THE NORTHERN AVOCA MALE = 1 1 ADULT MALE ± 10 YEARS 10 MONTHS EYREFIELD First encountered in late 2019. (1 sighting) This male, and his three sons from the Nkuhuma pride, were seen on the 21st at the Borehole. THE SOUTHERN AVOCA MALE = 1 1 ADULT MALE ± 11 YEARS 2 MONTHS NOMADIC First encountered on MalaMala Game Reserve (3 sightings) On the 1st, he ate a buffalo calf on the Charleston Flockfield Boundary. He was west of Mamba Waterhole on the 22nd where he was found with a buffalo cow carcass; the Kambula males and their sister stole this kill the next day. On the 25th, he was at the confluence of the Kapen and Sand Rivers. RE: Avoca male lions - Redroadmale - 05-22-2024 I have read on Facebook that the cubs from Nwaswitshaka Breakaway Pride were sired by Southern Avocas. is this true? RE: Avoca male lions - Cath2020 - 05-23-2024 You mean the lone lioness? Sister to the N'was Males? Yes, it's rumored that her 2 sons were from the S. Avocas. Did she lose one of the sons? or are they both still alive? Should be sub adult age by now though.... RE: Avoca male lions - Redroadmale - 05-23-2024 both of her sons are alive RE: Avoca male lions - Cath2020 - 05-23-2024 I'm so glad. She was a great first time mom and a lone lioness at that! Yes, she will be alone again after her 2 sons leave, but her legacy will live on in other prides if they are successful. Plus, she's young enough to have a few more more litters as they were her first. |
