In an unexpected turn of events Mohawk is seen alone seemingly in bad shape while his brother is getting better.

Yes, I am very happy to see the turn S Avoca is taking recently. As we've seen, he is not adverse to sharing a meal with other males, so we'll keep our fingers crossed.

As for Mohawk, yes, he did not look great in that most recent image, but as we all know, he is exceptionally tough, and can, hopefully recover just as quickly. We do not know the reason for his seeming separation from his sons, I just hope they are all well, and if they are, that they can all meet back up with Mohawk. He really needs some support right now.

In light of recent Nkhuma news, something happening to all the boys would be devastating news to deal with.

Anybody know what that lump on his side is?  Otherwise, he looks pretty good for an older fella.

RE: Avoca male lions - Duco Ndona - 05-12-2024

Hard to tell. Perhaps an infection.

Those are definitely great news. Wesley saw them yesterday night in an impala kill, still in their concession.

Glad they’ve been spotted looking well even if they still in KNP. Does leave me wondering who guides believed they spotted, however.

RE: Avoca male lions - Redroadmale - 05-22-2024

I have read on Facebook that the cubs from Nwaswitshaka Breakaway Pride were sired by Southern Avocas. is this true?

RE: Avoca male lions - Cath2020 - 05-23-2024

You mean the lone lioness? Sister to the N'was Males?   Yes, it's rumored that her 2 sons were from the S. Avocas.   Did she lose one of the sons? or are they both still alive?  Should be sub adult age by now though....

RE: Avoca male lions - Redroadmale - 05-23-2024

both of her sons are alive

RE: Avoca male lions - Cath2020 - 05-23-2024

I'm so glad.  She was a great first time mom and a lone lioness at that!  Yes, she will be alone again after her 2 sons leave, but her legacy will live on in other prides if they are successful.  Plus, she's young enough to have a few more more litters as they were her first.
