Absolutely true.

It's an interesting discussion the one if solitary lions are usually stronger in a clash than coalition members or even if there's any difference.

I think that a coalition member who loses all his partners suffers a huge blow in terms of confidence tho.

It prob depends individually.

We can also argue that male in a coalition is more battle hardened and more experienced in a fight as he is fighting his partners/brothers quite often, unlike solo males, who has nobody to fight with, except smacking lionesses here and there.

Coalition partners 100% have more battle experience. But if they will be on average more willing to charge 1v1 than a solo lion idk.

Are these the Old Birmingham and Mabande? The fathers of the 5 Bboys.

Is one lf these guys on the original post of the 'lions of sabi sands',thread?

RE: Lions of Manyeleti - Mapokser - 09-24-2023

@Hairy tummy Not really, the lion lying down was the partner of the lion you're talking about, who was weighed at 283kg with a full stomach.

The 283kg lion died and his partner joined this Old Birmingham male who's standing.

No, it is not Mabande male. Those are old Birmingham males.

Mandevu, Lambile, and a lioness with a zebra kill.

A bit of a throwback since we got on to this topic.

Mbiri Males have returned to Tintswalo, appears they have chased the Mbiri Pride. Also Red Road, mentions fight with the Kruger Male, and says they do not believe Red Road was who fought with S8, but that they believe he fought with the BDMs. Honestly, given what we have seen, with them doing some chasing previously, that does indeed make sense.

Sighting was approximately around 17 September.   They were captured by Vestment also and they left the next day

Ah, ok, yeah the delay in the video release that happens so often. The video was just dropped like 18 minutes before I posted it. I wonder where they went from there. I know he said Lambile and Mandevu were off at the time, hopefully they have returned by now.

RE: Lions of Manyeleti - Mapokser - 09-28-2023

S8 only had injuries on his face, he only fought one lion.

BDM to my knowledge had no injuries at all, could 1/2 have dominated S8 to such an extent? I'd be very surprised if this was the case.

Again, if he sustained worse injury (which was basically 1 bite), it doesnt mean he was dominated or that he lost the fight.

S8 is prob around  or close to 12 yrs old, BDMs are 6 and entering prime years, so i dont see reason why BDM could not match or even best aging S8.

Anyways, we will never know with 100% who caused that injury.
