Some early rib action going on too Sassy will get them food, she was their primary hunter anyways with Jr's mom, Aunty because of limp prob was not so usefull in catching pray. Also, people saying she will struggle to feed them, but now theres 2 less adult females who will take their share and Skorro Jr., who prob eats more then all those subs together. So yea, they will need less food now without 2 adult female and adult male, but Sassy will need to do all the effort now. RE: Othawa Pride - Duco Ndona - 08-23-2022 They also probably spend more time hiding or fleeing lately than on securing enough food. RE: Othawa Pride - Tonpa - 08-23-2022 The issue now will probably not be who gets what share, but more the ability to catch things in the first place without a second lioness to flush the prey into her. Their success rate even as a group is already something really low like 20% And then losing their kills to Hyenas on top of that. Their success rate even as a group is already something really low like 20% Well, Sassy would need to inheritate different style of hunting now, but as a prime and experienced lioness, she shouldn't have problems catching pray, when we saw younger, ~ 3 yrs old and inexperienced lionesses like Gingerella and Tsalala hunting for themselves without any problem. Also, in few months these subs will start to participate in hunts anyways. Biggest problems for them are other group of lions, as they are now by far the weakest group in the area, even Gingerella and Ximhungwe can easily out muscle them now, let alone Mhangenis or males. Off-topic: Leopards: weight three times less than lions, start hunting on their own at around 15-18 months old. Tigers: become independent at 17-24 months. Lions at 16-18 months: reach the size of an average adult leopard. Five of them can't even roar at hyenas and protect their prey. Can't catch even a small gazelle. Something is really wrong with lion developement. They are helpless for far too long. Ottawas need to leave this area and move to the east or to the north. This is not their territory anymore. The young ones look in good condition to travel long distances. Hope they don’t get caught out in a surprise attack. RE: Othawa Pride - criollo2mil - 08-23-2022 Seems the Othowas are back in the Dulini traversing areas. All 5 cubs accounted for and a Scarred Sassy leading them https://instagram.com/stories/dulinilodge/2911165923268766240?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&igshid=Y2ZmNzg0YzQ=[ RE: Othawa Pride - Mabingilane - 08-23-2022 I haven't been around for a few days due to the news. This hit just as hard (or harder) as the Othawa Male's death had hit me. The Othawa, Nkuhuma and Tsalala Pan were the first prides i heard about and started following in SS back in 2009. I remember those two Othawa females as sub adults and it very much hurts to see both JR's Mom & Auntie both gone within 3 Weeks. What a twist of fate that i still cannot fully come to terms with. If Nhenha & Nkuhuma male were responsible as alleged, then Nhenha is partly responsible for taking out Othawa male as well as his two Aunts. I truly wish Sassy and the older females had welcomed back Ginger's & Sassy's Daughter. Then Sassy would not be alone right now. RE: Othawa Pride - Bellateda - 08-24-2022 The worst that can happen is if Sassy is wounded or killed and these subs are left alone being helpless. RE: Othawa Pride - Tonpa - 08-25-2022 Interesting, the Mhangeni Pride (core) made a warthog kill which the Othawas managed to steal *This image is copyright of its original author

RE: Othawa Pride - Horizon - 08-25-2022 They might have seen numbers but didn’t see them closely enough. |
