RE: Lion Directory - Shadow - 05-03-2019 Not everyone were so impressed about mighty Mapogos... RE: Lion Directory - Rishi - 06-03-2019 The most popular, photographed & sighted asiatic lion of Gir, probably of all times; the male called "Hoth Tutlo". His name means torn lips, as his easiest identifying mark is his right-lower lip hangs limp. It's more prominent from the front... but otherwise his face is pretty recognisable. You see a dozen photos of him & will be able to recognise his face. ©Jignesh Gondaliya *This image is copyright of its original author He had a brother, who got killed if i'm not mistaken. Even after such setback he heldon for years & on recently got driven away (don't know by whom). *This image is copyright of its original author Half of the Gir lion sightings from past few years are of him alone... RE: Lion Directory - Rage2277 - 06-09-2019 *This image is copyright of its original author Yaron Schmid - "King Olerai"We met him and his brother, Olekiti, early one morning in Olare Motorogi Conservancy in Kenya. They were just finishing their "night shift", and were looking for a spot in the shade to spend the day. As Olerai got closer to the bushes, the rising sun made his mane glow in the most beautiful light, making it look as if he is wearing his crown... To fully appreciate how handsome he is, please view in large screen. Wishing you all a great weekend! (Nikon D5, f 5.6, 1/800, ISO 1000, 400mm) — atPorini Lion Camp, Maasai Mara, Kenya. The other 2 are Chongo and Koshoke. I believe Kibogoyo & Koshoke are brothers, the last years I saw them moving together most of the time. This time Kibogoyo was mostly together with Baba Yao & Doa and these 3 did of lot of patrolling towards the Double Crossing Area or were resting around Milima Tatu. These 3 seem to be the warriors of the Coalition and if the 6 Males would split in the future ... it might well Kibogoyo will walk with Baba Yao & Doa. March 2019 RE: Lion Directory - Lycaon - 09-16-2019 Jigar Pandya One of the infamous Babra males who are well known in Gir for invading in other males territories and brutally kill their cubs so as to mate with other pride's lionesses and expand their lineage. Captured him in the winter morning in Juni Raidi, when he & his brother were after the ruling male 'Hothtutlo' constantly roaring and checking the scents on their way. *This image is copyright of its original author

This handsome young male is a little over 3 years old and has a sister named Jill. Unfortunately, Jack and Jill’s mother passed away last year at age of 16 leaving the young sub adults to fend for themselves. Luckily the brother and sister are doing a phenomenal job surviving and hunting for themselves. For some time already, I think starting mid 2018, after a fight with Olerai and Oleketi, Lolparpit started limping permanently on his right hind leg. As can be seen in the picture below, the right hind leg of Lolparpit stands too far inwards. It is not a dislocation of the hip (as Scar has for many years). The problem is obviously the knee. Well, obviously I am not a vet but being a dog-owner for decades and having seen many handicapt Big Cats I think the reason could be: Either the knee is unstable due to ligament ruptures after fights or Lolparpit had a fracture in the knee which is now cartilaginous and ossified. Probably because of this the knee always looks swollen. Nothing a vet can do about! Even in a vet-clinic they could hardly fix this problem I believe. Lolparpit is fending reasonably well with this handicap. Did you know that Kalahari lions are well known for being the largest lions in the world? Because of scarcity of food in this habitat, the lions here are forced to move up wit 20-30km on most nights through soft sand in search of prey. To make these patrols more efficient, they have developed wider feet, longer legs and a greater body mass to ensure their survival during lean times. This male was only 3 years old and still coming into prime but already one of the largest lions Cameron Pearce has ever laid eyes on. He may very well have filled the scales over 300 kg!!
