RE: B2 and Other Great Tiger Pics from India - Roflcopters - 06-26-2018 Madhya Pradesh in the heart of India is rich in flora and fauna. Home to the famous Tiger reserves like Kanha, Pench, Bandhavgarh, Satpura, Panna and few more national park & wildlife sanctuaries, the forest resources contribute to the national ecological balance and distribution. At one time, the tiger count was so high that it accounted to one sixth of the world tiger population and today in the year 1995, it was declared the “Tiger State of India”. Though it has now lost its position to Karnataka, yet, it was a day that needs to be remembered over the history. I would surely love to share my memories from Kanha trip. This is mighty Munna, the 15 year old big male cat who rules the forest. Famous for the impression CAT on his forehead fur, he is the living king and the most powerful one. Munna is easily seen walking along the tourists jeep and entertaining them, yet in his young days, he was the only one to be blamed for human-wildlife conflicts. He rose to power by regularly fighting other tigers and killing them to ensure his rule in the zones of Kanha. Now that he has become old, he faces dangers from humans & young tigers & so to avoid territorial fights, he takes respite in the buffer zone. But then, this has its own danger as he might prey into the nearby local villages. The forest officials are said to take extra care of this Pride of Kanha and keeps constant track of his movements. June/2018 *This image is copyright of its original author Grand kids of Ustad/T24 In 2015, T 39's first male cub Sultan (T72) migrated to Kailadevi and two years later (Jan 2017), found a Tigress called Sundari (T 92) in the sanctuary. They created history by breeding & producing the first Tiger cubs to be born there in at least 30 years. (Sh. Gajsingh Ji Alsisar had seen Tiger cubs there in January 1980) On April 14th, 2018, I got an urgent phone call from the Village Wildlife Volunteers, about their having seen 2 small animals following the Tigress. They witnessed this scene from a cliffside overlooking a deep gorge and thought that the mysterious animals could be Jackals. Given Kailadevi's history, the cautious VWV were hesitant to assume that they were Sundari's cubs because it would have sounded too good to be true. I reached the spot 3 hours later & managed to capture this historic moment on camera within 15 minutes. I doubt Tiger cubs have ever been photographed in Kailadevi before. These cubs are a testament to all the hard work done by the Forest Department team in the Kailadevi Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary makes up half of the Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve. The VWV reported that Sultan had dragged a cattle kill for over a kilometer into the gorge for the mother & cubs the previous day. Sultan was not present at the time of the sighting, but we can see that he is seriously invested in raising this litter...
