A lion plays tug-of-war with a safari Jeep’s rope:
Quote:“It was like a big cat playing with a toy,” tour guide Jabulani Salinda, 49, told Kennedy News of the tug-of-roar, which occurred while he was leading a group through Baobab Ridge Game Lodge, South Africa, on Nov. 18.
The animal expert had reportedly been alerted by a colleague that a male lion was in the area. However, when he tried to maneuver his vehicle to get a better look, it became stuck in the dirt and had to be freed with a tow rope.
Unfortunately, their rescue attempt backfired after the big cat in question bit down on their lifeline.
“Before I could pull the rope back in, it caught the eye of the lion,” described the bemused wildlife guide. “He wandered over and grabbed the end of it.”

Here are some incidents of Leopards fending off humans.
Leopard repels many people who were trying to beat the Pantherine to death with their sticks.

The Leopard managed to fend them off, while significantly injuring one man.

While this was more of a botched rescue as opposed to a village fight against a Leopard, it is still interesting to see how hard it is to restrain a Big Cat without the use of tranquilizer darts.

There are a few recent cases of men getting killed by Leopards near Hampi, India.

A man who was grazing his cattle at Virupapur Gaddi islet in Gangavathi taluk of Koppal district was killed by a leopard on Friday evening. The deceased has been identified as Raghavendra Venkatesh, 19, a resident of Kariammana Gaddi islet.
As per information provided by the villagers, he was grazing his cattle at a desolated place between Rishimukha Betta and a private resort when he was attacked by the animal. After noticing the scared cattle dispersing just as the animal attacked, locals rushed to the spot. Forest officials also visited later.
Holding forest officials responsible for the incident, the family members of the victim and villagers resorted to a protest for a while, demanding that the local MLA Paranna Manavalli and Forest Minister Anand Singh visit the spot and take action against the “lethargic officials”. The police arrived and tried to pacify the agitating villagers, who had blocked the Anegondi-Sanapur Road and burnt tyres there. Deputy Superintendent of Police R. Ujjanikoppa managed to pacify them eventually.
People do not usually go to desolated places in the area because of the presence of leopards. Recently, a priest of Durgadevi temple was also killed by a leopard. “There are many leopards and bears in the area. Two leopards were caught and released into Atal Bihari Vajpayee Zoological Park in Kamalapur. People are advised to be careful while going out into these areas. In the past, farmers would carry traditional weapons and tools such as sickles for self-protection while going to the fields. Now, people carry phones,” said G.P. Harsha Bhanu, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Koppal.

Here is an odd scenario of an animal attack.
There was a case of a young monk who went to an area of the Thags yang, or a shapeshifting demon that transforms itself into a Tiger to kill humans.

The guy had to tie himself up and experience the anguish of bait for three days. However he was killed and eaten by the 'Demon-Tiger'.

The locals believed that the monk was not instructed on the ritualistic charms to protect himself from demons.
However, Alexandra David-Néel stated that the monk was most likely killed by an opportunistic Leopard.

The monks also theorized that the lama who instructed the young monk to tie himself was actually the same demon that used a human form to deceive said monk.
Although Alexandra David-Néel made a realistic statement about the Leopard predating on the monk, she mostly talked about the demons, spirits and magical practices in this book. After all, she was an occultist.

I remember some back and forth with this whether it was legit or not, but regardless I had forgotten about it so this definitely could be another instance.

Was the Reticulated Python able to swallow these adults because they were relatively small people?
I remember reading a while back that a Python won't be able to swallow an adult human due to his/her broad shoulders.
