He is spending a lot of time with the subs group and maybe is trying to bond with them.

The oldest son is big and at an age he can be a proper coalition partner, if this happen, in half a year they could even start to "think" about becoming dominant, Mohawk is still relatively young, healthy and in great condition, while his son will be a formidable lion in a few months.

Only issue here is if they can form a strong enough bond, but it is possible.

He’ll need a lot more time even the talamati boys aren’t ready yet I think the bigger one (darkmane jr) is 4 in a half years old

Sighting was from two (2) days ago at Singita.

Interesting development with Mohawk and his sons.

(not trying to insinuate anything will come of it)

Certainly safer arena than staying under nose of 2 Black Dam males so good move from Avoca male and his sons.

Mohawk with his children

RE: Avoca male lions - WildLeonis - 04-17-2023

Great to see Mohawk with his boys. The Avoca genes are strong as they all seem to look like at least one of the N.Avocas.

They are so big. Ridgenose’s son will be 4 next month. The rest of them will be quickly following, reaching the age of 4 in August and September. It’ll be interesting to see if they form a coalition leaving Mohawk on his own. Decide to split which I think is unlikely. Or if Mohawk will continue to strengthen his bond with them eventually becoming a coalition partner.

So far, it looks like Mohawk feels more secure with them and maybe is trying to create a coalition bond just like Notch and even his bro DM.

True. It’s so unfortunate what happened with DM. I was thinking about him a few weeks ago and realized the reason why his death hit so many, so hard. It was because he was the “star” of WE through the heart of the pandemic. He showed back up in Djuma in February 2020 and was a staple in the area, along with the Talamatis through much of 2021. Many people used WE as an escape from the lockdown and DM was a big part of that escape. People became very attached to him, I think, because of what he represented for them. So when he died many were heartbroken.

Anyway, it would’ve been very interesting had he lived being that he and Mohawk had sort of reunited and he was interacting with his Nkuhuma sons/nephews. I wonder if he would’ve eventually went back to his Talamati sons? Tried to reform a bond with Mohawk? Or played the field hanging with whomever when there was a need ie food etc. Too bad we’ll never know how that situation would’ve unfolded.

I totally agree with you my friend @WildLeonis. The deaths of king DM Avoca and the queen Tsalala hit me the hardest because of the way they died.

Darkmane was the perfect male he didn’t kill females he didn’t kill cubs darkmane was and is a Legend I miss that guy so much. I think eventually he and his sons would’ve formed a coalition but do you guys think Mohawk would accept darkmanes sons?

I also totally agree with you bro @Ttimemarti.
In my humble opinion, I think there is a good chance that Mohawk accepts DM's sons because Mohawk is alone, and he is also familiar with them and saw them with DM. Actually, there is a video from Quiet Eagle and Wild Earth that shows Mohwak resting a few meters away from DM and his dark mane son where no altercation occurred. And if that is in record, imagine that there should be a lot of more interactions not recorded.

RE: Avoca male lions - Mwk85 - 04-18-2023

Update from my post in the Nkuhuma pride thread, Mohawk is indeed with his sons at Robson boundary.

RE: Avoca male lions - Mwk85 - 04-19-2023

Mohawk and sons got them a buffalo kill.

RE: Avoca male lions - Mapokser - 04-22-2023

There's a video of Mohawk getting dominated by one of the younger Nkuhuma males in a kill.
