RE: Coalitions of Kruger National Park - Gavskrr - 11-23-2020 was reported by Kruger sightings "Last week, we shared some sightings of the almighty Lion Mpondo looking mistreated Unfortunately, this weekend, we found the carcass of one, just 50m from where he was lying on Tuesday. " it is my first post here I don't know how it works but I am very sad with this news. https://twitter.com/LatestKruger/status/1330759857138503680 RE: Coalitions of Kruger National Park - Potato - 11-23-2020 So the Mpondo male lions in the Kruger used to be the "Mjejane" males, we started seeing them in 2013/2014. At first we saw the 2 flying lions, they teamed up with the older U1 male at a later stage. After a couple of months they teamed up with 2 other young males. When they were in their prime they moved into Kruger and claimed a territory around the Mpondo dam on the s26, hence their name. Later on they moved north towards Renosterkoppies s114. One male got very sick, but survived fortunately. I was so proud of them when I saw posts of them of how they ruled these large territories. They've come a far way. Recently they've been seen around the Jock concession, but they haven't been doing very well. Over the weekend they found a lion carcass and they assume it's the oldest of the Mpondos. He was about 4 or 5 years old when he came onto Mjejane, so I believe he must have been older than 10 years when he died. It's the end of the mighty Mpondo's reign, but they've had a very successful life and sired a lot of cubs. I'm heart broken about their recent state, but it's the circle of life. RIP U1 Mpondo ![]() *This image is copyright of its original author ![]() *This image is copyright of its original author Is it Mjejane males which recently compete with Mpondo male over Renosterkoppies pride, correct? I am not too well aware with lion dynamic in that region. Anyway there are still 4 Mpondos around so words that the coalition is done seem to be too early ones. Such a sad news about this Mpondo male he was branded in August 2012/13 with the U1 and he born in 2007,So he died at the age of 13 years old RE: Coalitions of Kruger National Park - Hairy tummy - 11-23-2020 He had great teeth for a 13 year old. This coalition was one of the first i took a interest in when i got into lions. Rip Yeah he had their teeths in perfect shape though he was very old RE: Coalitions of Kruger National Park - T I N O - 11-23-2020 What a good old sighting of the old Jock males in the S28 road. These two majestic male lions proudly pose over a large catch. Sure, the bush may be rough, but they're rougher. KNP-S28-Posted on November 22/2020. Shift in Kruger is coming in few years, dominance of powerful coalitions like Mpondos,Mantimahles, Bboys, Shishangenis, Shishangaans, Kumanas, Machatons, N'wanetsis, Jocks, EBMs and rest who are born around 2010 is slowly fading.. We should appreciate this lions whiile some of them are still here.. These two coalitions would not be competing for the Renosterkoppies pride, but for the Windmill pride which is the pride that is south of the Jock concession, this pride is a breakaway from the Biyamati pride RE: Coalitions of Kruger National Park - Tr1x24 - 11-23-2020 Beautiful Masorini males, near Phalaborwa, Kruger Sightings : ![]() *This image is copyright of its original author ![]() *This image is copyright of its original author ![]() *This image is copyright of its original author
