@Tr1x24 Well I said "many" not "all". Genetics sure are very important indeed, some males reach 11, 12 sometimes even more than that while still looking amazing, others look thin at 10, but a healthy dominant male lion without injuries will hardly be deteriorating at 9, we usually say 8 is when they are at their absolute peak, 9 is very close to 8 for them to deteriorate so quickly and I noticed their manes are even more impressive at 9 if they are healthy.
Their life expectancy is only 8-10 because of stuff like fighting, not because they are dying of old age at 8-10.
If he has poor health/diseases, injuries or is under a lot of stress as a nomad or something then sure he'll deteriorate.
At 10 then yeah they start losing their strength and muscle mass I'd say, unless they have great genetics related to ageing.
Avocas themselves are a good example, DM and Blondie had injuries/health issues and deteriorate, while Mohawk and the southern brothers who are healthy are looking very strong, this despite DM and Blondie being younger and all of them coming from the same genetic stock. If not for injuries, disease and the stress and difficulty that comes with it DM and Blondie would still be alive and as strong as ever.

A little off topic obviously, but just look at some of Kevin Ricahrdson's lions that are pushing 18 years old. Obviously different conditions to live under, but proof that some lions can look amazing at old ages.

I think that's just a random rain puddle.
Urine plays a mayor role in communication for animals. So peeing does require some thought on what message you are sending, what information you are leaving and who you want to find it.
So we probably were a lot more picky about where we urinated as we are now.
Public bathrooms would likely be horrible concepts to lions. Like Facebook and twitter, but with even more urine.

Obviously he's not as bulky as he use to be, but given the stresses he's been through lately (losing his brother/coalition partner, pressure from other males, not being with the pride all the time thus lacking fairly regular meals, his age) I'd say he doesn't look all that bad. I've definitely seen far younger males lions be in a lot worse shape than him. Barring any kind of significant injury in the near future and a few good meals, I wouldn't be surprised if we see him looking fair amount better.

Idk what you people are talking about, he's perfectly healthy. He's turning 10 in what, 2 months? He's leaving his prime and is in a semi-nomadic lifestyle full of stress due to BDM's pressure and the losing of his brother, but still in perfect condition, healthy and strong.
