Your info is true. Singita have confirmed and she is with the pride! Looks thin but fine!

I’m overjoyed.   She looks a bit scraggly but hopefully will get a good meal soon.    This really makes me smile tho

PC males are the fathers

Yeah and I wonder if they know it, they never meet the Mangheni female after all. Let's say they randomly sees them 2 months from now, will they accept the cubs or will their memories fail them?

Edit: On instagram someone said she mated with the smaller PCM for over a week which implies she wasn't mating with the other brother. This is not looking good for her.

Yeah.  I’ve always been concerned regarding that aspect.   Even the male she mated with could be hostile towards cubs since she never really spent any time with them outside of the mating period.

Awhile ago, the Tsalala female's mother couldn't spend much if any time with Nhenha after mating, but he remembered her when she got attacked on the hillside and defended her.  Plus, he seems to remember his daughter now even after a lot of time.  So I'm hoping the PC males do the same with this lioness.

I'm not 100% confident but I do find it's likely the smaller PCM will accept the cubs if he sees them with the mother, problem is, unless someone can confirm his brother also mated with her ( which doesn't seem to be the case ) he'll has no reason to not kill the cubs.

Also they'll probably be aggressive towards the rest of the pride, but if they can make it until they get into oestrus again, their chances will be higher.

RE: Mangheni Pride - Mapokser - 10-08-2022

As for the OM cub, it's unbeliavable news, but I'll wait to see if she gets some meals and recovers 100% before celebrating. Since the Mangheni Pride has I believe 5 adults, if they can keep the cub alive for some 8 months, they can do the old strategy of leaving one or two females to raise her until she's 3, while the others mate with the PCM, then they can rejoin later on or form some breakaway pride.

"one MHANGENI lioness with young Pc male, I waited there hoping they’ll mate but unfortunately I didn’t in my presence"

RE: Mangheni Pride - lionuk - 10-11-2022

That lioness was sister of Big Boy Mhangeni. She's 6 years old.

If I am correct, there is supposed to be 2 sisters of Big Boy with Mhangeni, right??

Two mhangeni 12 lionesses yes.   One however is his littermate and called BIgBoy sister.  The second one is a younger girl (limping  girl) and cousin.

Thank you sir!!
When I read the story of Big Boy from the thread you told me, I realized that always knew the story but forgot that the lion was named "Big-Boy".

RE: Mangheni Pride - Tr1x24 - 10-14-2022

Looks like Mhangeni females finally accepted PC males (atleast looks like it) , 3 females seen with them, 1 who was with Tsalala is prob denning, while Mhangeni sub was seen alone with 1 of the Majingilane daughters, limping female :

Although this is great for the pride, its not so much for the last OM's offspring, sub female is in danger if PC males dont adopt her.

RE: Mangheni Pride - Mapokser - 10-16-2022

It'd be great if the PCM accepts the OM cub, I don't want to be optimistic but one can only hope. The PCM are very aggressive and they did kill the Tsalala female who had a much older cub after all.

If Mhangeni pride will settle down in that region it will probably be disaster for Ximunghwa/Othawa breakaway and remnants of Othawa pride. Sad, but it is nature after all and there some has to die so the others can thrive.

For years Mhangenis had numbers to takeover whole western sector from Othawas, but they didnt, their core territory was always Singita, with part of western sector and western Londolozi, so it will prob stay this way. Dont see a reason why would they completely move only to western sector all of a suden.

RE: Mangheni Pride - Duco Ndona - 10-16-2022

I agree. Those groups have always been neighbours with except from the occasional run in with newly nomadic groups, had very little to no interaction.
Id worry more about the constant fighting between the Ximhungwes and Othawas themselves.
