RE: Lions in South-Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia - BorneanTiger - 04-21-2020

In February, an old video resurfaced on the Internet, sowing 3 lions surrounding a tourist vehicle at the Lion and Safari Park at Hartbeespoort, North-West South Africa, with one of them climbing the car, pawing at its door, and even breaking a rear-view mirror: https://www.ndtv.com/offbeat/lions-surround-tourist-vehicle-climb-on-top-of-it-in-scary-viral-video-2183620?fbclid=IwAR1t9_H7ymeX1DbOftqVel3MXRvUSPQTXJ0Ja93Is_qlXpq9jr1FENShiJU

Marlon du Toit: " Two lionesses at play in Hwange, Zimbabwe.

I visit many different destinations every year and of all Hwange stands out & holds some of the best lion viewing I’ve ever come across. Prides are large & active and very often occupy these stunning open areas, very well suited to wildlife photography. Captured whilst hosting my @wildeyesa Mana Pools & Hwange Safari. "

There are about 500 lions living in the Etosha Pan, this is the story of how they live together and an account of the family affairs of one pride in particular. The lions of the Ombika pride are a nineteen-strong family, we see how the pride lives, protected by two magnificent males, how it brings up its cubs and teaches them to hunt. The Ombika pride, named after one of Etosha's waterholes, is dominated by two immense males, each weighing 550 lb. One is gold maned, the other black. This is their story.Click here for more documentaries: http://bit.ly/2gSPaf6

Jens Cullmann: " Sometimes you have no choice what’s on the menu ... .

I already posted a few images of this sighting beginning of the year, before I went in the bush again.
This lion killed somehow a full grown eland antelope. But his teeth were not the best and he had to wait for days to eat it until the meat got soft and rotten. Not a nice view as maggots started feeding on it too ... and smell was special too . . ."

Lucien Beaumont: #tbt 2009 when an unfortunate giraffe had slipped while crossing the Sand River. Unable to get back to its feet, it succumbed to its fate. Luckily for a hungry pride of lions a rare free meal was enjoyed, maybe a little too much by some. "

James Tyrell: " Look at the face of an older lion and you’ll see loads of scars, some big some small. The popular approach is to imagine what fights and battles they received them in, fighting over territory or bringing down buffaloes.

Far more often though, it’s simply a case of them slapping each other around within a pride.
A male comes face to face with this reality. "
