RE: Bigcats News - Balam - 07-20-2020 A jaguar was killed in Zulia, Venezuela the 19th of this month. The killers claim they did it to avange the jaguar for killing a person, but there's no evidence of such thing ever happened. The authorities are looking to identify the poachers and bring them to justice. RE: Bigcats News - Lycaon - 07-20-2020 Absolutely barbaric , jaguars don't view people as prey. RE: Bigcats News - Balam - 07-20-2020 @Lycaon the person recording the video stated that he was going to consume the jaguar and "leave some ribs" for another person. I don't buy that he did it out of hunger as I'm sure farm animals like chicken or goat are always available. This was a senseless killing performed by an imbecile, I hope the authorities find him and apprehend him. This is the second jaguar from Venezuela killed this year and posted on social media, thankfully the killer of the first one was found and thrown in jail. RE: Bigcats News - Lycaon - 07-20-2020 @"OncaAtrox" Oh that is rather horrific let's hope all parties involved face justice . RE: Bigcats News - Rishi - 07-23-2020 Ok, there's some really bad news. 4-year-old MT-3 of Mukundara, the one that travelled there on his own from Ranthambore, was found dead. He was staying in Mukandara Sanctuary since February 2019. It was being told that tiger was suspected weak for a week. The forest department was preparing for his treatment, but he died before he could be captured. Environmentalists have accused the forest department of negligence alleging that he died due to lack of timely treatment. Meanwhile, the state forest minister has asked for a full report of Tiger's death. He was found lying unconscious near the hill on Thursday morning. The trackers feared something untoward as there was no movement for a long time & informed the authorities. After this, the medical team and officers reached the spot. When the medical team checked the tiger, he was declared dead. The tiger's post-mortem has not been conducted yet, but cause will be declared after his autopsy. Few months ago he was badly mauled by the tigress Lightening after she refused his advances. ![]() *This image is copyright of its original author ![]() *This image is copyright of its original author ![]() *This image is copyright of its original author ![]() *This image is copyright of its original author
RE: Bigcats News - Ashutosh - 07-24-2020 @Rishi, the autopsy results came back and there was no foul play. It died because of a cardiac arrest due to an enlarged heart with clots in it’s chambers. Even if wildlife officials intervened, they couldn’t have saved him. MT3 also known as T98 of Ranthambore was an offspring of T60 (Junior Indu whose sister T59 or Alcmene is mother of a tiger who migrated last month). https://www.outlookindia.com/newsscroll/ranthambhore-tiger-which-had-made-kota-forest-its-2nd-home-found-dead-officials/1901489 RE: Bigcats News - Dark Jaguar - 07-24-2020 (06-13-2020, 01:05 AM)Dark Jaguar Wrote: Onças do Iguaçú. RE: Bigcats News - Rishi - 07-29-2020 International Tiger Day 2020 special... RE: Bigcats News - BorneanTiger - 07-30-2020 (07-29-2020, 10:29 PM)Rishi Wrote: International Tiger Day 2020 special... What a coincidence, as yesterday, it was announced that the species was making a 'remarkable' comeback, with positive results mainly coming from India, Nepal, Bhutan, China and Russia, with a rare sighting of Indochinese tigers in western Thailand (near the border with Myanmar) also announced (as I mentioned here): https://www.bbc.com/news/newsbeat-53581028 Credit: WWF [attachment=4034] RE: Bigcats News - Balam - 08-01-2020 5 men were detained in the state of Barinas, Venezuela for the illegal hunt of a mother jaguar and the capture of her two cubs intended to be sold to the black market. Unfortunately it is unlikely that the cubs will be able to be reintroduced into the wild as very few successful reintroduction programs have occurred with jaguars to the wild. Jaguar populations in Venezuela face a lot of pressure from hunting and habitat and prey loss, however, it is reassuring and refreshing to see the authorities being proactive in detaining and prosecuting the poachers of these animals: RE: Bigcats News - Pckts - 08-05-2020 ![]() *This image is copyright of its original author ![]() *This image is copyright of its original author ![]() *This image is copyright of its original author
